Nope, not really. Word o' mouth from people I trust, basically.

8 year deal, worth around $6.5 million per year, according to TSN.
-
I guess this means that Niedermayer is done.

Starting to hear rumblings of Briere to Montreal....
-
Doesn't seem to be that way anymore. Teams seem to go out and get the guys that they want in the first few hours of free agency (so say, tomorrow afternoon).

They gave Toivonen ample opportunity last season to take the ball and run with it and he never did it. As for Rask, he needs some AHL seasoning before being ready for the NHL. I think he's like what, 21? However, Boston had to do something. Unlike other "hockey markets", the tickets aren't automatically sold in Beantown and they need to do things to prove to the fans that they're at least trying.

Me thinks Tuukka Rask might be a guy worth hanging on to.....(though he needs AHL seasoning, one would think)
-
I haven't heard yet, but I wouldn't be shocked if they didn't tender qualifiers to guys like Finley or Sauve, though I suppose we would've heard by now if they didn't.

That's because Kypreos is a blockhead.

It was thought that he had post-concussion syndrome for the longest time, but it turned out to be whiplash.

Why Is Everyone Comiing Down So Hard On The Leafs?

Hmmmm.....nah, I won't bother.... -
I've seen tectonic plates move faster than Allison.....

$3.5 isn't outrageous for Tkachuk, but it is overpriced.

I think you'll see Philly throw a gigantic contract at Briere.

Which of the 7 'big' names get into the Hall this year?

You make it seem as if he was passed over a bunch of times before he got in. He made it in on his first year of eligibility. -

No way. Kariya hates the media spotlight and definitely won't willingly sign in a hockey-first market. I think you'll see him go back to Anaheim perhaps, but I think he'll definitely stick to a Southern market if he can help it. He'll avoid Canada like the plague.

The following players were not tended qualifying offers by their respective teams and will become UFA's.... Michel Oullet - Pittsburgh Penguins Adam Hall - Minnesota Wild Juraj Kolnik - Florida Panthers Alex Auld - Florida Panthers Alexei Semenov - Florida Panthers Curtis Sanford - St. Louis Blues Karel Rachunek - New York Rangers Also, the St. Louis Blues began the process of buying out Dallas Drake by placing him on waivers. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=211936&hubname=nhl

Does Martin Brodeur count as a tandem on his own?
-
Raycroft doesn't have the attitude to play in a hockey-first market. He's the kind of guy that won't own up to playing poorly. When the Leafs were cleaning out their lockers, he said something to the effect of "I won 37 games, that's pretty good." (He also played in 72) Anytime he blew a game with a soft goal (a regular occurance), he'd always pawn it off by saying "Well, I stopped the other 27..." It gets old real fast listening to him deflect blame for his own poor play. Paul Maurice isn't the kind of guy to rotate goaltenders or play a tandem. He picks his guy and goes with him. Raycroft isn't going to stick around as a $2 million backup. He'll either be traded or end up on waivers and his contract will off the cap.

Fergie (on paper) seems to have made a half-decent deal for once.....I'm not sure how to react just yet.....
-
Balsillie and Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment have had preliminary talks about allowing LeafsTV to air some Predators games as well as allowing MLSE to manage Copps Coliseum.....so the expected blockade by the Leafs may not happen.
-
The Cup takes a beating every year.....you get a bunch of pissed drunk hockey players passing around a 32-pound trophy and bad things will happen.

I would have to say that Pat Quinn will be lining up to get that Ottawa coaching gig. Although, would anybody really be surprised if Bryan Murray hired his brother again?
