Wade Belak vs. Cam Janssen
-
Do you just make things up so that it re-enforces your view of the Leafs? They've been downplaying this meeting with the Devils and Janssen ever since the media started bringing it up. All they've talked about is getting the two points and such. Nothing at all in the least bit about getting back at Janssen or anything like that. Nothing. If you're going to run them down, at least base it on fact. You look a little less pathetic that way. BTW, it looks like Belak will be playing.
-
Barnaby is essentially retired.
-
Nothing will happen. Very doubtful at this point that Belak dresses. You're assuming that Janssen will get more than 30 seconds of ice time? Nope, TSN Leafs Region. EDIT: Andy Wozniewski is a gametime decision with the flu. Belak will dress if he can't play, otherwise, he'll be a scratch.
-
The way things are going, they'll overtake the Devils and get somebody like the Islanders or Rangers in the first round.

Glad the Rags won, the last thing I need is teams choking in order to let the Leafs sneak into the playoffs. Fire Fergie.

The Pens are the 05-06 Dallas Stars of this season.

Have Gary Roberts, will travel. He'll get those boys whipped into a frenzy for the playoffs. I'd fear the Pens in the playoffs, they'll be a handful. -
Wellwood didn't play last night due to "soreness", so we'll see if he plays tonight. Colaiacovo sat out, too. Word on the street is that Kaberle may play Tuesday against the Devils. I will say this....I guarantee that Toronto or Montreal will win tonight How's that for a bold prediction?!?

Alex Kovalev's amazing accuracy clip! WOW I'm speechless
MacK_Attack replied to kovatsyuk's topic in General
They have always said that Kovalev is the best player in the world.....in practices. -
Because Ottawa cries enough as it is, they'd bawl if the Leafs went West. The Leafs are one of their few guaranteed sellouts, along with Montreal and now Buffalo. Besides, the Leafs campaigned for years to get into the same division as Montreal and Ottawa, they wouldn't go back without a fight. With the Leafs paying in excess of $10 million into the revenue sharing pie as it is, there's no need to move them anywhere. That said, they definitely want to have more Western Canada trips. Also, the Leafs wouldn't draw in places like California.

Bertuzzi did not intend to break the guys neck, but he did intend to punch him full-force in the back of the head, which is no better or worse than what Simon did. I think they are similar because both were attempts to injure the victim, regardless of what the end damage was.
-
Something is a little fishy. As far as I have heard, Simon has not had his hearing yet (I believe it was scheduled for Sunday or Monday), so this seems very premature. Also, with TSN removing the story, I believe that somebody jumped the gun a bit on this one. The NHL has released a statement saying that the hearing has been held but the decision as to the punishment HAS NOT been made and the reports of 22 games are false. http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app/?service=page&a...rticleid=290284

TSN has removed the story from its website, so the report may have been a bit premature.

Leafs D Tomas Kaberle was taken off the ice on a stretcher after a late hit by Devils enforcer Cam Janssen. Not only was it a late hit, but it was an elbow, and Janssen left his feet to deliver the hit. No call. Expect a suspension on this one. Oh by the way, the reason Janssen was running around taking runs at a star player like Kaberle is because Wade Belak is a scratch tonight. Me thinks he won't be in 18 days when these two teams meet again. Kaberle was taken to hospital, but no word on injuries. (Oh, and Brodeur is 20 minutes away from another shutout)
-
Precisely. Back-to-back against Ottawa this weekend should knock them back out of the playoff picture.

Report: Kaberle out for season
-
It was a different scenario in the 70s. That team was doomed from the beginning, largely from cheap ownership. They cut every corner imaginable, which meant that no star players stood a chance of ending up in a Scouts uniform. The fans realized this quickly and stopped caring. Also, Kansas City is much larger now than it was 30 years ago. It can handle the team.
-
Yes, but unlike the West, the East has many teams that draw very well. Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Buffalo, Tampa Bay, Carolina, Rangers, Philadelphia already draw very well. It wouldn't mean much, if any, additional revenue for those teams. What would be the benefit? Tampa already sells out every game.
-
1-0 Isles (Blake) after 2 periods. DiPietro is putting on a clinic.
-
The Western teams will vote to keep Detroit in the East, and most of the East teams really don't care all that much, so they will probably vote to with the other Western teams. It would be better for league economics to keep Detroit in the West, which is why it will be Columbus going East. Detroit has a huge impact on attendance in the West, but would have minimal impact in the East. They would be playing a lot of their road games in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal & Buffalo, where the seats are already full. Also, motions need a 2/3 vote of confidence from the board to pass, so at least 20 votes are needed.

Steve Jefferson, the father of Mike (Jefferson) Danton, says that the charges pending against ex-agent David Frost are expected to be dropped in the coming days. He will be on Leafs Lunch at 1:30.

2-0 Bruins after 2 periods.
-
No, he was a healthy scratch. Janssen didn't play another shift after that hit, either.
