Yeah, but Fergie is doing it to save his job. If he can't get them to the playoffs, he'll be long gone. I can't say I blame him, I'd do the same if I had absolutely no job security.

Oh, he's in survival mode for sure. I'm scared to death to see how badly he screws up today. Bell has upside, they just have no room for him.

Leafs have offered the Gary Roberts package to the Blues for Mayers.... 2nd round pick, 4th round pick and either Staffan Kronwall or Brendan Bell

Biron has been asking to be traded since the summer.

They aren't going to do that. Fergie won't admit failure with Raycroft after giving away Rask (who I think will be a Vezina-type goaltender) not even a year ago. Leafs are going to get Jamal Mayers today, for some reason.

I would tend to think that he's going to Montreal, after how badly Aebischer stunk the joint out last night.

If he's still good enough to play (and clearly, Pittsburgh thinks so) and still wants to play, then let him play. He has a no-trade clause and obviously has a very short list of teams that he's willing to go to. Don't think for a second that Gary Roberts doesn't want to win the Cup again. If you've seen him play in the playoffs since 1989, you'll know that isn't the case. However, at this point in his career, it isn't the be all and end all.

Gary has sacrificed his body (including a broken neck) and he has the ring to prove his success. I think he's earned the right over his career to decide where he plays at this point. If he wants to be close to his daughter, who are we to slag him for it? Family comes first.

Just announced on TSN that L.A. has traded Brent Sopel to Vancouver for 2nd and 4th round picks.

Some rumblings that Roberts has waived his NTC, but not to go to Pittsburgh......

You know that if Bert is going to be traded, Brian Burke is going to be front and center to get him.

Another Roberts update: Gary immediately rejected the trade to the Penguins when told of it this morning. Fred Shero phoned Roberts and asked him to think about it, which Gary agreed to do. At this point, it is not known if Roberts has responded with a yay or nay to the trade.
