Gretz was a machine in his day. I don't think anybody will touch his records because not only did Wayne have his legendary playmaking ability, but he was the best goal scorer in the world when he wanted to be. 50 goals in 39 games, 894 goals, 1963 assists, 2857 points, 92 goals in a season, 163 assists in a season, 215 points in a season. I don't think we'll ever see anything like that again.

My understanding is that Burke gave Anaheim three options, that being that they could take Jason Blake, Jeff Finger or include one of their 2010 1st round picks.

No, Phaneuf was paired up with Beauchemin tonight. Looked like a real solid pairing. I didn't say Detroit would, but I'm relatively sure somebody will. Poni's too dumb to fit in with Detroit's system. He's got all kinds of talent, but he's as dumb as a stump. Can never put it all together for any stretch of time.

Schenn's been fine for a month or so now. He got a couple games off to sort of "start over" and he's been better. Plus, it doesn't help that he's been paired up with Garnet Exelby.

If guys like Dominic Moore & Ales Kotalik can fetch 2nd round picks at the deadline, then so can Ponikarovsky.

I think Burke would look for something a little more tangible than Leino. Williams is a non-starter. Probably looking for somebody with modest upside that hasn't disappointed in the pros, like Leino has. Either that or something like a 2nd round pick.

Why? Each team gets rid of a contract they don't want. Burke didn't sign Finger & Murray didn't sign Jiggy. -

If Giguere goes to Toronto, Finger or Blake goes back to Anaheim. That's the only way I see that going down. Makes sense for Jiggy since Toronto has a children's hospital that can help treat his kid. -

The NHL likely can't do anything. I don't think the NHLPA would sit idly by if the NHL tried to suspend Cormier for an act that didn't occur in their league.
