    So what happens with Janik?

Yes, he is. However, any player can be called up from the AHL on an emergency basis, which bypasses re-entry waivers. Emergency recall allows a team to temporarily recall a player to replace an injured player, however that player has to be returned, without waivers, to AHL/ECHL as soon as the injured player(s) return. If a team chooses to keep that player that they recalled on emergency, they would then have to put that player on re-entry waivers - if the player requires it.

    So what happens with Janik?

Janik was an emergency call-up, meaning he could be sent down without waivers.

Maple Leafs in trouble with Ontario health ministry

The Leafs have H1N1 in the organization, two guys with the Marlies came down with it (Tyler Bozak & Andre Deveaux), so that's why the decision was made to quickly vaccinate the rest of the organization, Raptors included. How they got a hold of the vaccine, who knows. I do know that they did not get the shot at a clinic, the vaccine was brought to them.

Ducks Forward Erik Christensen on waivers

While Harrison would give you some toughness, his giveaways and lack of speed would drive you insane.

    Not that I'm aware of.

Ducks Forward Erik Christensen on waivers

My understanding was that the waiver priority was based entirely on the season standings as of Nov. 1st, and claiming a player does not put you "at the back of the line" as some suggest. Christensen won't clear waivers, it's just a matter of where he ends up.

    Function, first and foremost.

Those old fibreglass masks they wore in the 70s scared the hell outta me. Some of the goalies looked like robots with the paint jobs they had. Gilles Gratton's make is still my all-time favourite:

If there was no NHLPA, would the players play?

They better get their s*** together soon, because the CBA expires after next season.

If there was no NHLPA, would the players play?

Yeah, but does it mean the CBA is (temporarily) void? I mean, if one side of an agreement ceases to operate, does that agreement still exist? Is it legally enforceable?

Anyone watching the Leafs playing in Anaheim tonight?

I've got Perry in my pool, I'm good with that.

Not bad for a kid that Ken Holland allegedly said was "...no damn good."

Anyone watching the Leafs playing in Anaheim tonight?

I didn't see who he went after, but Ian White is the smallest guy on the team, and that's one mustache I wouldn't mess with.

Holy s***....they might actually win. (A lot of hockey left to go)

    Gustavsson's save:

Anyone watching the Leafs playing in Anaheim tonight?

As I look at the stat sheet, Orr did in fact get a 10-minute misconduct along with his fighting major, so I'm assuming that was for the shove on the linesman.

Anyone watching the Leafs playing in Anaheim tonight?

It was innocent. Orr had zero intent to do what he did....it was more like he was waving the linesman away and made contact with him. No big deal, which is why he wasn't given a match penalty or anything. And I'm still amazed by that save Gustavsson made. Unreal.

    Howard to start Saturday

Montreal is not going to trade Halak right now. He's pretty darn close to becoming their starter, if he's not already.

    Leafs

But really, the Western Conference teams don't want to play the early game because it's an odd time of the day for them to have a game and it throws off routines. The Leafs are playing in Vancouver on Saturday in the early game and it's a 4:00 local start. The Canucks aren't happy about it. Ottawa isn't a draw outside of the Ottawa region, which why they are rarely the national game. Montreal draws well with Quebec & the Maritimes, but doesn't have the national drawing power that the Leafs have. That's why the Leafs are almost always the national game. Last year, the first time the Leafs had no Saturday game (first time since 1991), HNIC had a ratings decline of 30% compared to the previous week when the Leafs played the early game. The primary reason the CBC continually put the Leafs on nationally is because quite a few of the advertisers demand it.

    Leafs

So Daniel1.....who pissed in your Corn Flakes? If you have a digital package, you can watch Ottawa or Montreal on their respective CBC stations, but neither one of those teams are so super-competitive that they warrant a national audience, either. But it has been proven time and again that nobody draws ratings like the Leafs and that's all that matters in broadcasting. Anyways, the Leafs will win some games when Gustavsson returns on Monday and they get some goaltending. The team has no confidence in Toskala or MacDonald, and they play like it. I'd be more worried if they were as bad on paper as they've been so far, but they're not. They'll get better. Kessel will play in a couple weeks, too.

Toskala likely done as Leafs starter

Toskala apparently injured, whether it's physical or emotional, nobody really cares. Joey MacDonald starts tonight against Colorado, James Reimer will back him up. Gustavsson is expected back on the weekend.
