I think the only clear explanation for the Kovalchuk fleecing is that Don Waddell was an awful GM.
-
Given that he's American, it's clear Parise is coming to Toronto.

Bob McKenzie says the Coyotes get Matt Clackson, a 3rd round pick in 2012 and a conditional pick if Bryzgalov signs.
-
Sounds like the Jackets have also traded Fedor Tyutin to the Islanders for Evgeni Nabokov.

I'm just impressed they've managed to win despite not having Reimer for the past 2 weeks.

What about next year?

Ian White is generally very solid and you won't often complain about his play. Just be prepared, he will have moments that will cause you to curse at him. The Leafs often tried to push him into a top-2 role and it just didn't work out. He's at his best when he's playing around 20-22 minutes a night.

Holland was just on TSN Radio again, seemed to indicate that Datsyuk won't play tomorrow, either. -
Eh, don't worry about it. People love to paint with a wide brush. As a Leafs fan, people (on message boards and the such) always assume I'm an idiot.
-
Yes, they do. They have to be on the roster in order to serve games. They can send him down, but the suspension can't be served in the AHL. The AHL can issue a suspension of their own if they feel necessary, but it would be separate would not count towards his NHL suspension.
-
Suspended players absolutely do count against the cap.

Ken Holland was just on TSN Radio, said it was a fair punishment. Called the hit "a little bit reckless"

One minor change, Liles/Phaneuf pairing will sit, Gunnarsson and Franson will play. -
He has to be on the NHL roster for the suspension to to be served.
-
It's up to him if they let him play during his suspension, but he has to be on an NHL roster for the games to come off his suspension. The AHL generally allows players to play when they are suspended in the NHL, only when it's a major suspension do they make the player sit. All the AHL can do is issue a suspension of their own which does NOT affect the NHL suspension that he has to serve while on the NHL roster. The Flyers had to do that with one of their boneheads a few years ago. They had to call him up before every game and then send him down immediately afterwards in order to take games off his suspension while he played in the AHL.
-
The message is simple, the onus is on the player doing the hitting to either pull up or avoid the head. Hit a player in the head, you get suspended. He has to be on the Wings roster to have the games come off his suspension. Usually, the AHL does not recognize NHL suspensions, except in severe circumstances.

He's fine and ready to go. He was cleared in March last season, but they decided it would be best to give him until training camp to rest up.
