Kaberle. He's not going anywhere, apparently. I guess Ian White or Mike Van Ryn will be traded if they can find a taker for Van Ryn. I would think they'd rather keep White because he can run the 2nd PP unit and doesn't get hurt like Van Ryn. There's still nine guys competing for seven spots. Frogren can start with the Marlies if they're stuck, but he's ideally the 7th defenceman.
-
It was the same franchise, though. Just a different name. Well, two different names. (Arenas & St. Pats)
-
Marleau would have to waive his NTC, though. Not saying he wouldn't, but just saying.
-
Teams have already peed their money up against the wall on the high-end players. There's just not much left for the guys in the middle and lower tiers.
-
I don't think you can get just picks for those two. They make too much money. There's no way they can move Finger's contract without taking back a similarly bad contract.
-
They have nine defencemen including White. Kaberle --> Likely staying Komisarek --> Untouchable Schenn --> Untouchable Beauchemin --> Untouchable Exelby --> Likely to be kept Van Ryn --> Probably not enough trade value to bother moving, but very solid when healthy White --> A lot better than the 7th defenceman he would be if he stayed Finger --> Don't see how he fits, perhaps to the Marlies Frogren --> Ideal 7th defenceman
-
What they did was set the bar for the trade of the next defenceman out of town, which I figure will be Ian White. If Stralman gets a late 2nd rounder, Burke's going to want more for White.
-
Wouldn't surprise me if he ends up being a leader for the Marlies.
-
I think Primeau is fairly irrelevant in this trade. It's basically the 2nd rounder for Stralman with a bunch of nondescript pieces thrown in. Primeau being involved says to me that Calgary wouldn't make the deal without him in it.
-
It wouldn't surprise me if he asked to be traded because they really never gave him a shot and yoyo'ed him up and down from the AHL all year. He never seemed to be too happy in Toronto. I think this means Kaberle is staying.
-
I understand the need to move a defenceman or three, but Wayne Primeau? Stralman is a good one, sad to see them give on him already.
-
The Leafs need another defenceman like I need a kick in the pants. Pogge will be traded (he can't be waived) for nothing....mid-to-late draft pick.
-
He's not worth even close to what he signed for, but he's not as bad as everyone makes him out to be. Good warrior who sacrifices himself for the team repeatedly. Solid in his own end, but will never do anything that will justify his contract.

Finger was signed by Fletcher.
-
It'll be interesting to see who gets traded if it's not Kaberle. Kaberle - Komisarek Schenn - Beauchemin Exelby - Van Ryn White That leaves Finger, Stralman & Frogren with no spot. Something has to give.

I don't know where you got that from, but they had a hard time giving tickets away for that game in Toronto. Scalpers were charging half-price in some cases and Rogers ended up giving pairs of tickets to people who switched to Rogers cable in the month or so leading up to the game. They priced themselves out with $100 tickets for upper-deck seats.

I thought this site of all places would have confidence in Steve Yzerman to build a gold medal team. Anyways, Canada will have the deepest team, especially up front, it will be interesting to see who they go with on D. With Canada on home ice, I think they will have a decided advantage in terms of a loud crowd.

Who would take Lilja knowing his uncertainty with his concussion? And you only get his salary back in LTIR space if he sits out the entire year.
-
Just the WHA. It was just part of the merger that anybody coming in with the new teams (Hartford, Quebec, Winnipeg, Edmonton) that hadn't played in the NHL yet would not be considered rookies.
-
He made that amount in 2007/08 when everything was just fine and dandy. It won't be reported for another year what he made during this past year.
-
But odds are that if there is a change in that rule, it will only change for contracts signed after a new CBA goes into effect.
-
Yeah, but players over-35 signed to one-year deals can be sent down/retire without counting against the cap.

NHL asks IIHF, KHL to negate Hudler's KHL Contract

Was that before or after the Radulov affair?
