Jeremy Williams & Kris Newberry sign with Wings / GR?
MacK_Attack replied to titanium2's topic in General
He was clutch the first game he was called up for. Disappeared after that. He's completely useless when he's not scoring and he's not good enough at it to stick in the NHL. -
They can still sign Versteeg, and will. TSN reported earlier that they are close to a deal with him.
-
$2.834 million. $984,000 + $1.85 million in bonuses.
-
3 years, $9.25 million.
-
Barker just re-signed with the Hawks.
-
Dreger: Hawks re-sign Cam Barker to a three-year deal. Believed to be worth $9.25 million.
-
Deals like that don't happen anymore. And I doubt the Hawks can trade Versteeg's rights until the whole grievance thing is settled.
-
I think he's got about 30 pro games left until he has to clear waivers to be sent down.

Jeremy Williams & Kris Newberry sign with Wings / GR?

Williams is a frustrating player. Has a goal-scorers knack...but doesn't do it enough at the NHL level to warrant staying there. Other than that, he doesn't do a damn thing. No backchecking, no playmaking, no toughness. Newbury is a good minor leaguer. Will pop in goals here and there, but he gets hurt a lot. Good toughness and character. -
Kaberle will apparently be traded for a young, high-end forward. That leaves... Schenn - Komisarek <-- Probably the meanest pairing in hockey. Won't be fun to play against them. Beauchemin - White <-- Nice blend of toughness and offensive ability Exelby - Van Ryn/Stralman <-- Same thing, but on a lesser scale as far as offense goes. Stralman fits in for the 65 games that Van Ryn is hurt. Finger can block shots for the Marlies for all I care. Ian White can be moved up to forward, if need be, but he's a good defenceman. The forwards will be young, so not a lot of goals, but at least they'll be hard to play against for a change.

If the lockout hadn't happened, the top-end players would be getting in the area of $15 million (or more) per year.

Lilja's salary will always count, whether he's on LTIR or not.

Teams have until 5pm EDT tomorrow to elect to take a player of their own to arbitration. -
They have all kinds of cap space.....plus Nash is playing this upcoming season under his current contract.
-
They're rebuilding. It doesn't happen overnight. Gustavsson is obviously next on the hit list, and the talking heads on TV suggest that Kaberle will be traded for an elite forward in the coming days.
-
Seems to be the case. Luke Schenn is going to have to carry the load at 19/20 years old.
-
5 years, $4.5 million per.

Looks like I can cross another name off the sig...

One year, no salary info released. http://penguins.nhl.com/team/app/?service=...rticleid=432180

Let him go to Philly where he and Emery can hurl whiskey bottles at strippers after the game.
-
These are all from Darren Dreger... - Florida is expected to trade the rights to Jay Bouwmeester today/tonight. - Leafs are getting close to trading Tomas Kaberle, with Boston offering Phil Kessel. Burke expected to continue to take offers until at least later on tonight. Kaberle loses his no-trade clause at 7pm tonight. - Tampa Bay has said they are keeping the 2nd overall pick and are not taking offers for Lecavalier. More to come! EDIT: - Rival GM calls Ottawa's asking price for Heatley: "Outrageous"
-
No, the player has to agree to the offer sheet. Just making the offer isn't good enough. Once the player signs the offer sheet, then his salary is set. It's then just a matter of finding out who he's going to play for.
-
That's right.

TSN: Atlanta heavily shopping the 4th overall pick.
