Up 5% from the projected revenues (cap) of the upcoming season....and given that without the 5% boost, the cap would be down between $2-3 million, it means that the NHLPA could boost the cap basically back into the area where it is now....maybe up a few hundred thousand. But is it really a good idea to boost it now when the bigger drop is coming next season?

Bettman said the cap will either stay exactly where it is, or drop as much as $2.6 million.

He'll get away with it until he hurts someone significantly. Then he'll get called for it every single time.

I think I have to go with the Pens. They've got a extra couple of days of rest, more playoff experience and I'm just not sold on Varlamov yet until he faces a better offence, which he will in Game 1. It'll be 6 or 7 games, though.

But the Pens offense is vastly superior to the Rangers, so Varlamov will get a real test. It's a tough call.

Rangers vs. Bruins in the 2nd round....should be interesting. Bettman's probably wetting his pants just thinking about it.

I wonder if George McPhee will even bother bringing Theodore back next year or if he'll just buy him out. Varlamov will probably be their starter, so I dunno if they'll keep Jose to sulk on the bench.

The Detroit/Columbus series hasn't exactly been riveting hockey for people who don't cheer for either team. The Canes/Devils game last night was some pretty exciting hockey (for two teams I have very little interest in).

Gotta think he would've played if the series had been 1-1. The Canucks are in control, so they chose to get the guy some rest for whatever his injury is (usually, his groin). If they get the brooms out, it means he'll have had like two weeks of rest before the first game of the 2nd round.

'Bout time the Caps woke up for me. I have four Caps in my pool (Ovechkin, Semin, Kozlov & Fedorov) and they were just killing me so far. Six points from them tonight, so they've earned a temporary reprieve.
