They don't buy any of their equipment.

The blade... A guy on my team had that happen about a month ago or so. Blocked a shot with his skate and the blade fell right off.

But the rule is there that if you don't sign your 1st round pick, you get a compensatory pick (30 picks after the position that you picked the player that didn't sign) in the next draft. The Rangers didn't sign Cherepanov because they couldn't, as sad as the circumstances are.

Heard one GM on a radio show (I'm blanking on who it was) a couple days ago say that they've been told to prepare for a $45-48 million cap for 2010/11. This is going to be the summer of the 1-year deal.
-
The broadcasters have been complaining that they aren't always getting their allotted TV timeouts each period because of icings.
-
The proposal was voted down by the GM's.

They'd probably have to get an OK from the Elite Leagues in Europe for that one, too. For some of those guys over there, the World Championships is the only tournament that they get to represent their country, because the NHL guys come in for the Olympics.
-
Plenty? Name one.
-
They gave up an entire season to get the hard cap, there's no way they'll give it up after one go-around.

Everybody's favourite battle is in the 3rd. Tied 3-3. Ovechkin with a goal, Crosby with a goal and an assist. Guerin having the biggest day so far, a goal and two assists. http://atdhe.net/live-tv-4629.html

They're not willingly dropping the cap. They'll have to because the CBA simply says that the players get "x percentage" (54% or whatever it is) of the revenues, and if the revenues aren't there, the cap drops. It's all economics and everything is shot to s*** right now and hockey isn't immune to it. You're not going to see signed players being "taken" from teams. But, in order for these teams to get under the cap ceiling, some teams are going to have to practically give players away in order to get into compliance. There won't be "hockey" trades as they like to call them, but cap trades. I think you'll see a lot of players end up on re-entry waivers in 2010. The poor guys that end up as UFA's in 2010 are going to have a tough time getting contracts. There's been at least a 2-3 year "heads up" that the cap is going to drop a significant amount. If a team is caught off-guard and ill-prepared for it, they have nobody to blame but themselves. It shouldn't come as a surprise in June of 2010 when the cap drops below $45 million.

Is it poor management if those teams with cap flexibility heading into the 2010 off-season maintained that flexibility on purpose because they knew it was coming and held off signing long-term contracts because they knew that they could get good players for cheap?

Seems to me that a lot of teams who have coasted through the season so far get a little too comfortable and find it hard to get up for games, and the teams that are fighting for playoff spots are all gung-ho and playing with intensity and they catch these top-end teams off guard. Or, the teams that are out of it are pressure-free and are just having fun and they sneak up and steal games here and there. It's a dangerous thing to get into....You get into March, you've got a playoff spot all sewn up and you develop bad habits and poor work ethic and then the games matter in April and it's hard to turn it on just like that.

For the fans of the rich teams, yes. Ask a fan of the Kansas City Royals how much they like the fact that baseball has no salary cap.
-
The best thing for hockey would be a Pens/Caps series in the 1st round.
-
Just wait until the cap drops and the good teams have send their talent to other teams just to get under the cap. That will take parity to a new level.
-
Crosby wins it for the Pens in the shootout.
-
Overtime, big point for the Pens.
-
I don't think the extra point is necessary now that there has to be a winner. It was good when there was still ties because it gave teams insurance to go and try to win in OT, but I think it's unnecessary now.

I'll never forget the way he put the team on his injured shoulders in 2002 when half the Leafs roster was injured and he carried them all the way to the final four. They had no business getting that far, but Gary was so damned determined.

Jeff Finger took a puck between the eyes.

First, Pogge hasn't earned squat....he's been average at very best in the AHL. Maybe it's a little shot across the bow at him that he's not going to have a job in the NHL handed to him. Adam Munro, who backs up Pogge with the Marlies has been better than Pogge this year. CuJo's done....so Gerber's just a place holder while CuJo's rests between starts on his farewell tour.

Not from a site.....my cousin is a pro scout with an NHL team....just got an IM from him saying his team was told Moore was gone to Chicago.
-
Looks like Dominic Moore is going to Chicago....just trying to confirm that....
