Dreger: Sakic had the snowblower off, he reached in to pull out some wet snow and when he did, the auger finished its revolution and that's what broke his fingers and cut him badly.
-
Gratton cleared waivers.
-
Vrbata was an ownership move, not a Lawton move.

That penalty he took in overtime was much appriciated. The Marlies need all the help they can get.

I'd like to tell him that he's killing my pool! I need him better than the 40th ranked fantasy player!

Mark Spector's column on Sportsnet.ca has Tippett's quotes. He said he asked Avery if he was going to say anything to the media, Avery responded "No." He then told the team public relations people the same thing, and then a few minutes later called the cameras over to deliver his statement. Not only that, but James Duthie at TSN reported that he spoke to a number of (nameless) Dallas Stars players, who said that moments before stepping up to the cameras, Avery turned to his teammates and said, "Watch this, boys."

Fortunately, Ottawa has a second level of seats that cut his fall in half. Had he fallen from an upper-deck in an arena with only two bowls, it probably would've been much worse for him and the people he landed on.
-
Well, the Stars are done with him. Apparently they are trying to find a team either in North America or abroad to take him for free.
-
The comment to Laraque could never be substantiated. It wasn't said to a media scrum like yesterday's remarks.

That's because you only get suspended for off-court actions in the NBA if you shoot somebody or are involved in an armed robbery. Fortunately, the NHL doesn't have to deal with things like that.

Canes also name Ron Francis an Associate Coach

Any player is eligble to go on a conditioning assignment, the player just has to agree to it.

An unnamed Dallas Stars player: "Can they suspend him for four years?"

In the AHL, yes. Gordie Howe is the oldest to play in the minors.

6 points in 7 games is downright awful. You make the comparison to Cogliano. Cogliano has 10 points in over 20 games (22 or 23) and Ryan has six in seven. Maybe my math is a little rusty, but I'm pretty sure that makes Ryan's production better than Cogliano's. Ryan was #2 or #3 on pretty well every draft list. He and Jack Johnson flipped-flopped. Besides, power forwards always take a little longer to develop.

Yeah, apparently his title will be Assistant GM & Senior Vice President, not that it really matters a whole lot. He will also get a similar clause with the Leafs that allows him to move laterally or into a GM's position with another team. Burke was on the radio today and said he'd like to get the deal done with Nonis tomorrow while they're both in Southern California.
-
They can't. Nonis has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave without permission (48 hours notice is required) if he is offered a job as an Assistant GM or GM with another NHL team.

Wendel Clark is not the best power forward ever. Darcy Tucker was never better than Sundin Tie Domi is nothing but a tarnished, distant memory.

39 year old Ottawa Senators defenceman Luke Richardson was waived today by the club. Upon his clearing waivers, he will retire and become an assistant coach with the club.

Negative. The rule stated that the puck had to precede the skater into the crease, possession or not. The whole "possession" rule was never heard of until the NHL made the ruling on the Hull go/no goal. Okay, you go out on the ice and tell those guys that they need to go back the bench because maybe they haven't won the Stanley Cup yet. Yeah, wasn't gonna happen.
