Which is why I suspect somebody will take a chance with him. His cap hit is only $575k, so he's dirt cheap.

Ryan Hollweg suspended two games and another three games
MacK_Attack replied to MacK_Attack's topic in General
They're keeping Luke Schenn likely for 9 games while Kubina & Finger are out with injuries. I think if they were trying to get 8th or 9th place in the East, they wouldn't be playing an 18-year old on the first pairing with Tomas Kaberle. Cliff will be adding more draft picks at the deadline when he peddles guys like Antropov, Kaberle and Ponikarovsky at the trade deadline. -

Nope, six fights, six losses. About the only benefit he brings to the team is his Chris Farley impression. -

I'd bet it has nothing to do with cap hit and everything to do with budget. If Pavelec is on a two-way deal, it saves the Thrashers some coin when he's in the minors because he'd make his AHL salary. Hedberg is on a one-way deal and would make his NHL salary in the AHL, so if Hedberg stays to back-up Lehtonen, the Thrashers save some money. If Pavelec is on a one-way deal, then this is just a baffling move.

Still, he was picking on a guy with cancer! (Before somebody tears me a new one, that wasn't a serious comment)

Burke didn't confirm he'll be the Leafs' GM next year, but
MacK_Attack replied to toby91_ca's topic in General
Well....Burke does his own thing. Maybe he sees a denial as an exercise in futility, I don't know. Maybe it's a F-U to Gary Bettman. It should be obvious by now that the only reason he's still in Anaheim is because he has one year left on his deal and Bettman wouldn't allow him out of it. -

Because it's obvious to all that he's going to Toronto and would already be the GM there had Gary Bettman not stepped in the way? -
TSN fantasy draft Special 4 Wings taken in first 9 picks!
MacK_Attack replied to Tane's topic in General
They encourage those guys to go "off the board" with their fantasy picks because it makes for better on-air discussion/debate. -
Nylander's on his way out, apparently. I heard to Chicago once Khabibulin is off their books.

Burke brought the following members of the Ducks Stanley Cup team to Anaheim: - Chris Pronger - Scott Niedermayer - Francois Beauchemin - Chris Kunitz - Teemu Selanne - Todd Marchant - Sean O'Donnell - Brad May - Travis Moen - Joe DiPenta - Kent Huskins (among others) That's 11 players right there, meaning at least half of their roster was acquired by Burke. Four of their top-five scorers from the Stanley Cup season (Selanne, Niedermayer, Pronger, Kunitz) were brought in by Burke. He didn't build it from the ground-up, but Brian Burke put that team over the top. To make it seem like he inherited a Stanley Cup champion isn't correct. Hate the guy all you want, but you can't deny the quality of the players he brought to Anaheim. Their top defenceman prior to the Burke era was Keith Carney.
