It would appear that way judging by his age, but his production is the same as its been for the past 10 years. The difference between Mats Sundin and another elite forward of similar age is that Sundin doesn't rely on breakaway speed or anything like that. He's absolutely dominant down-low and can still hold his own while stickhandling and still has a fantastic shot.
-
In a normal summer, probably, but this free agency class is so weak that he'll probably end up getting it. It's Marian Hossa, Mats Sundin.....then it drops off to guys like Daymond Langkow and Vaclav Prospal....(Assuming that Jagr is guaranteed back to the Rangers). With basically only two marquee guys out there to be had, it's a good year for Sundin to cash in.
-
Just put it this way, J.P. Barry has stated on the record that Mats won't accept a discount this season from anybody.
-
He's still proven himself to be among the best in the league. He was on pace for a 90-100 point season until he hit some injury issues near the end of the season. Sundin took his charity season last year with a $5.5 million salary. While he wants the Cup, he also has his pride and I'm sure, ego, too. Everybody else around his calibre is getting that kind of cash, I guess he wants it too.

When Balsillie was trying to buy the Predators and he started taking season ticket deposits, they sold more deposits than they had seats for in Copps Coliseum. There's a lot of money in Southern Ontario, and there's a lot of corporations that would sink a lot of money into seasons tickets for a team in Hamilton.

They are, but the NHL does not make referee punishment public.

Tucker....fight? It's been since the lockout that he did anything remotely gritty and/or tough. Good riddance. As for Bell, meh. Another one of Fergie's experiments gone wrong. Going to be vastly different Leaf team next season.... Tucker, Raycroft, Bell - Bought out Sundin, Wozniewski, Pohl - Free agents Kubina, Sundin's rights - Traded I would love to see Blake dealt, but nobody wants that salary. Hopefully they can talk McCabe into taking a trade to the Fishsticks or Rangers.

I'm used to it. But thanks.

Also in the midst of this is that Cliff Fletcher will stay on as GM for the upcoming season, as Brian Burke will likely end up as the permanent GM after next season, or sooner.

Yeah, I've heard that Victor Hedman could give Tavares a run for his money. But the Leafs badly need a top forward and if they somehow end up at #1 overall and decide to trade down to #2 to get Tavares, I'm fine with that. Plus, Tavares is a Toronto boy, so it makes sense for them to get a face of the franchise that's a local kid.
-
I believe that the Leafs don't really want him back because they're going strictly with youth. It seems that both sides are angling this thing so that there's kind of "mutual agreement" to part ways. I don't know, Mats' comments to the media lately have been pretty murky. He's usually a straight-shooter, but he's holding back a bit right now.
-
Word is he wants a raise, and Montreal is willing to pay between $7-8 million on a one-year deal. Anyways, I hope he leaves because I want John Tavares.

Gary Roberts has two-dozen egg whites a day via meals and protein shakes.

Gary Roberts lives to play in the playoffs. He'll be beyond fired up. He doesn't score like he used to, but he's fearless and has a nose for the front of the net. Gary's also the kind of guy that has a keen sense of when his team needs a pick-me-up and can often provide it with a big hit. He's a leader.

I remember in Toronto a few years ago when the Leafs were playing Ottawa in the playoffs, a local radio station got one of their morning show guys to pretend to be Jason Spezza at the Westin Harbour Castle (where visiting teams always stay). Anyways, the guy somehow convinced the front desk staff that he was really Jason Spezza and that he'd locked himself out of his room and needed a new key. The key had the room number on it, so the radio station spent that night knocking on Spezza's door and ordering him room service at 3am and things of that nature. It was pretty funny stuff.

Gary Roberts will either hurt somebody tonight, or hurt himself in the process. Either way, he'll be fired up.

Or on the flip side, it could've given Dallas more motivation....something else to rally around (even if it's as small a detail as a game puck). Best to play it safe in Maltby's situation.

A butt end can be as dangerous as a stick swing, depending on where they connect. Anyways, my take is Ribeiro should get one game for the intent to injure, however, that's the most he should get. Osgood sold it like an Italian soccer player, it wasn't nearly as bad as it looked. A little bit higher, then maybe the story changes, but hitting him in that big chest protector isn't going to hurt him, given that he takes pucks going much, much faster in the same spot every day.
