I believe the original post to be purely speculation. I don't believe he's restricted himself to one team and I certainly don't believe he wants a two-year extension, even with Toronto.
-
Sundin doesn't have any family in Canada. He's not married and doesn't have any kids.
-
They have each other's 1st rounders. Anaheim got Edmonton's 1st (as well as 2nd & 3rd) for Penner, while Edmonton got an addtional 1st for Pronger as the condition kicked in when the Ducks made the final.
-
They just run into him and fall down. He's just too big and strong to knock off the puck.
-
The Leafs want a roster player, a prospect, a 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder.
-
That's been there for three years, and his numbers haven't fallen off at all.
-
Well....I've never heard anything that has suggested that Mats would only be willing to be traded to one team. I believe he is willing to be traded to maybe four teams at max. Of course, Sundin won't say anything publicly about being traded anywhere, so anything regarding a trade is purely speculation. The rumours are that Anaheim is the closest to landing Sundin, for a package including Bobby Ryan, though the Leafs would like to expand on the deal so that they could land the Edmonton 1st rounder. I also am very doubtful that Mats wants to sign a two-year deal with anybody. He's said that he will decide once the season is over if he wants to play next year. He's certainly not going to sign an extension in a city that he knows little about.

Only until July 1st.

I'm thinking that with the reported 15 teams into the Kaberle bidding, it will be a huge return for him, whether it be now or in the summer.
-
That's fine, Kaberle can stay for the rest of the season, it just means he goes wherever the Leafs get the best offer this summer.
-
That'd be robbery for San Jose.
-
According to Scotty Morrison on CBC.ca, there's 15 teams trying to get Kaberle.
-
The rumour making the rounds is Lupul, top-end prospect and a 1st round pick.
-
Here's the thing, Kaberle's NTC becomes null & void on July 1st. At that time, he can be traded anywhere the Leafs want. From now until next Tuesday, Kaberle controls his destiny. It might be wise for him to waive it now for a team that he actually wants to play for.

Leafs & Flyers talking "intensely" about Tomas Kaberle
-
I think it'll have to wait until an autopsy to find out. Seems the standard find is a previously-undetected heart problem.
-
Peter Forsberg's agent Don Baizley has announced that he will not sign with an NHL team due to his foot problems.
-
Lecavalier, if traded at all, would be moved during the off-season when more teams can bid for him.
-
Should make for an interesting trade deadline in Raleigh.
-
Let's say there's five guaranteed sellers at this point: Los Angeles Ladislav Nagy Rob Blake Brad Stuart Scott Thornton Jaroslav Modry Kyle Calder Tampa Bay Vaclav Prospal Dan Boyle Chris Gratton Andre Roy Toronto Mats Sundin Hal Gill Chad Kilger Wade Belak Nik Antropov Alex Ponikarovsky Tomas Kaberle Boyd Devereaux Darcy Tucker Chicago Martin Lapointe Yanic Perreault Andrei Zyuzin New York Islanders Miro Satan Mike Comrie Ruslan Fedotenko Trent Hunter Josef Vasicek Freddy Meyer
-
Include Tampa Bay in that. Panthers aren't selling, they're two points out of their division lead (pathetically is a three-way tie at 60 points)
-
Well, the teams do, for starters.
-
I could see that, in return for a package including Marleau. Teams don't want a whole bunch of average in return for elite players. They want top-end talent, or top-end potential in return.
-
Trade deadline in 2 weeks. Your one winger, and D.

Gill is certainly not the same type of player as Hatcher. I can't compare foot speed, because I'd hate to see either player in a race, but I can tell you that Gill compensates for his lack of speed much better than Hatcher, specifically, Gill uses his reach to his advantage whenever he can. Gill doesn't try to throw big hits like Hatcher. Why? Because he's smart enough to realize that those kinds of plays will put him badly out of position. He's smart like that. He can clear the front of the net, he plays a very solid PK game and he keeps it simple. I don't think you can ask much more of a 3rd-pairing defenceman. But I guess you can just leave the blinders on and keep assumptions about Gill because he's big and on the slow side.
