Would your guys please step it up? The last thing we need is the Leafs going up in the standings!

Redden refuses trade to San Jose

TSN reporting that Ottawa GM Bryan Murray recently approached defenceman Wade Redden about waiving his no-trade clause in order to be traded to San Jose (rumoured to be for Marleau). Redden refused, and stated that he intends to stay with the Sens for the rest of the season. Rumour has it that San Jose has their sights set on Tomas Kaberle now.

Redden refuses trade to San Jose

Every player has to realize that there's only a handful of players in the league who are completely 100% untouchable in any kind of trade talk. Plus, Redden's an impending-UFA, so the writing is on the wall in the sense that he's likely gone, anyways. I'm sure if Redden was really hurt by the trade request, he'd waive his clause and leave.

That depends. Should be around that number if Toskala stays in net. If Raycroft comes in, should be somewhere in the neighbourhood of a baker's dozen.

The Leafs feel a lot of things, but good isn't one of them.

Steen's playing. He was activated from IR today. Belak likely sits.

Most teams use the Westin Harbour Castle.

    Wings/Leafs Memories

Just about the only thing that stands out is that playoff series from back in '93. Oh, and some awesome Probert/Clark fights.

Redden refuses trade to San Jose

They need a guy to run their powerplay from the point.

Who would you take, solid 2nd liner, or Dman.

No-trade clause (limited). There's a never-ending market for defencemen, especially at the trade deadline. If push came to shove, the Leafs could trade him.

Redden refuses trade to San Jose

I don't think it's so much that Ottawa doesn't want Redden, but more that they badly need secondary scoring (They're a two-player team, Heatley & Alfredsson) and are willing to move Redden to get that.

Not Meech, I missed that part. Make it Kopecky, Ericsson, 2008 1st rounder at bare minimum. I would imagine the Leafs could get a decent bidding war going for Kaberle. Hey, throw in the rights to Grigorenko while you're at it. The Leafs have a roster spot for him.

Redden refuses trade to San Jose

Three more seasons @ $4.25 million. If that pick is a 1st round pick, then yeah, you might get him. Probably would take more since he isn't a rental player.

Redden refuses trade to San Jose

That's kind of a moot point since he's steadfastly against being traded anywhere.

They would trade him, but not for Marleau. Nobody on the roster, save for Tlusty & Stralman are untouchable. Kaberle has had a poor season, but regardless of that, I doubt that the Leafs have any interest in Marleau. They're strictly in the business of acquiring youth and picks at this point. Kaberle has an NTC, but the Leafs are actually in a position of strength with Kaberle. You see, Kaberle has a clause in his contract that states if the Leafs miss the playoffs two-straight seasons, his no-trade clause would no longer be in effect. To that end, Cliff has to use that to his advantage and has to tell Kaberle that he can choose his destination now or risk being sent anywhere in the league after July 1st. Kaberle has been the Leafs 3rd or 4th best defenceman this season, behind Kubina & McCabe, and at times, Gill. McCabe has been far and away the Leafs best defenceman this season.

Toronto would LOVE to get his contract off the books.

He played for them for eight seasons, won a Stanley Cup there and still has a home in that area.

His play is underrated. I haven't had many complaints about him.

Kubina has played well, but I would love to move his contract. He has a limited no-trade clause, and I have no idea if Detroit is among the teams he can be traded to. The only one I know for sure that is on his list is Tampa.

Florida's back in the playoff race, they won't be moving him. (Not that they would've, anyways) Apparently, Jacques Martin won't return phone calls pertaining to Jokinen.

    NHL Network

I don't recall them having anything last year other than a recap show in the late afternoon after the deadline had passed. My advice would be to watch the channel for awhile and see if they advertise a Trade Deadline Special.

    Olli Jokinen

A LOT more than what you gave them for Bertuzzi. Jokinen isn't a rental, he's going to have a huge price tag.

    Olli Jokinen

Florida would be wise to trade this guy over the summer when more teams will be able to get into a bidding war for him.

    Trade deadline

If you want a solid guy who can help out on the PK and the #3 pairing, Hal Gill is your guy. Plus, he's not a rental.
