Los Angeles Kings have placed goaltender J.S. Aubin on waivers & goaltender Dan Cloutier on re-entry waivers. Toronto Maple Leafs have placed defenceman Andy Wozniewski on waivers and activated defenceman Bryan McCabe from injured reserve.

I have a hard time believing any "clutch" formula that does not include Mats Sundin near the top.
-
Perfect. Stamkos, here we come!
-
I've decided against going. Don't feel like coughing over the dough at this point.
-
And on TSN, Sundin is leading Hossa & Jokinen.
-
Why would a rebuilding team like L.A. trade a 25-year old player like Cammalleri?
-
Niinimaa is DONE with a big "D". Carter is about as lazy and unmotivated as it gets.
-
That's an old joke....goes back to the Pat Quinn days and a trade for Jonas Hoglund.
-
You mean....like....the Selke Trophy?
-
Glenn Hall used to skip training camp every year.

There's a real shortage of high-end rental forwards this year (might end up being just Sundin), which will do nothing but drive Sundin's value higher. Given his mandate, Cliff Fletcher is just going to take the best offer. As long as it's a team in the upper-half of the playoff seedings, I think Sundin will go. As much as going to a team with a real chance is important to Mats, I think he'll also consider the return going back to the Leafs, especially since he'll likely re-sign there this summer.

I'd imagine it's either Ryan OR the EDM 1st rounder, and then the filler from there.
-
The Leafs covet Edmonton's 1st rounder that Anaheim owns. Burke has said that he's willing to move that pick at the deadline (you'd have to think that Sundin & Hossa are the only two guys worth that pick, and he really doesn't need Hossa now), so it's just matter of filling things out beyond that, which will depend on where Edmonton will approximately end up. The Leafs would love two picks in the top-10, especially since it looks like their own will be a lottery pick. I think the ultimate for Cliff Fletcher would be packaging up those two top picks and getting Stamkos. I think Los Angeles would rather have Doughty or Pietrangelo at this point, anyways. If Edmonton continues to move up in the standings, then you'll probably see the Leafs look to get Bobby Ryan.

This still leaves Anaheim enough cap space to trade for Sundin without dropping a roster player.
-
Thanks to the two-way entry level contracts, they make peanuts (comparatively) to what they could be making in their home countries. That's the biggest factor.
-
I doubt the Leafs would have any interest in Hudler....they already have Wellwood (who is a write-off this year due to injuries). Then you better have the paperwork ready to acquire a search warrant to find him in the playoffs.
-
Nope, he won't. He had agreed to a deal with the Leafs last year, but backed out because they wanted him to play for the Marlies in '07/'08. I don't think he'd play in the AHL next year at all. He'd head back over to Sweden if he doesn't make the NHL roster.
-
He can't sign with anybody until the end of March or into April, depending on how far his team gets. Whether or not he's agreed verbally or not remains to be seen.
-
The people involved in ending the Leafs Stanley Cup drought, especially the GM, get hockey god status. It's a challenge, no doubt about that, but it has its rewards. It's just a matter of getting the job on your own terms. (Plus, let's not forget that Bowman had originally agree to take the job 6 months ago)
-
Which probably means he has a completely inferior defensive game.
-
He's also what, 21 or 22? Martenssen is 28, that's a huge difference.

Obviously, training camp has a lot to do with that. I think Brunnstrom is looking for a team that has room for him on the top-two lines right away. If you're Toronto and don't have many other options, it's an appealing thing for him, especially with young Swedes like Steen, Stralman & Kronwall. There's also a chance that Carl Gunnarsson comes over next year, but he'd more likely end up with the Marlies. The Leafs are going to have guys like Tlusty and Kulemin on the top two lines along with Steen and God-willing, Stamkos. Plus, Stralman will have a much larger role next year. If Sundin re-signs, you stick Brunnstrom on the wing with Sundin & Steen. It's not like the Leafs have anything to lose.
