In regard to a potential Flyers/Penguins game, there's no mention of a date being considered. As for the Pens/Sabres game in a week and a bit, I believe the scheduling of it was planned so that they would be competing against as few bowl games as possible (one, I think). That said, I don't follow college sports at all, so I have no idea.

The ice freezes immediately after it loses contact with the blades, like it does with normal skates.

Not really.....they're intended to make skating less tiring, so it helps players increase stamina. It also aids in allowing players get to top speed faster, but it's not proven to make the player actually skate at faster top-end speeds.

The commissioner needs to be a lawyer first, a hockey person second. It's just the nature of the job. Brian Burke happens to be both. Same with Pat Quinn. -

I'd go with Burke. He's a lawyer and a hockey man. That's the ideal credentials for a commissioner. Dryden is anti-fighting, so I'm not too sure I'd like him as commish. -
Edmonton Oilers have placed defenceman Mathieu Roy on waivers. Toronto Maple Leafs have placed forward Bates Battaglia on waivers.

The CRTC (Canadian Radio & Telecommunications Commission) allows casual swearing pretty much anytime as long as it isn't overboard. After 10pm, swearing is pretty much not regulated at all and isn't an issue. The only time they come down hard on swearing is mornings and prime time when more kids are watching.

Atlanta Thrashers have claimed Mark Recchi on re-entry waivers.

Darren Dreger reports that the Dallas Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning are discussing a trade that would involve Martin St. Louis and Marty Turco. Both have NTC's, so obviously, this trade would have to be OK with both players. Dreger reports that nothing is imminent, but there have been quite a few discussions.
