Not only in OT, but with 3.7 seconds left.....all he had to do was fall on it....knock it into the corner....haul the guy down that he was covering.....ANYTHING other than trying to hammer it behind the net.
-
Fine by me. McCabe would be great on a team where he could be the #4 defenceman. He'll never be that in Toronto. I don't think Jimmy Rutherford is dense enough to fall for that one.....and I don't think Fergie is swift enough to ever mastermind robbery like that. Of course, McCabe has control over where he goes, so ultimately, it comes down to him accepting a deal to Carolina.
-
Fortunately, it's a front-loaded contract, so a buyout won't cost all that much down the road.
-
All the more reason to boo him out of town. I imagine he'll hear it pretty good on Thursday. At least Nik Antropov is finally playing like he can. He's a force right now.
-
It's a purely contractual move. Sending him back now keeps his contract from kicking in, so next year will be Year 1 of his three-year entry level deal. It's also one year later that Bernier can be a UFA.
-
He's not in Arizona anymore. He's in Toronto waiting for an offer from a nearby Eastern Conference team. It's been said that he turned down an offer to be a backup in San Jose this summer, as well as Vancouver.

CuJo won't go to L.A. He's going to sign with Toronto or Ottawa when they deal either Raycroft or Gerber to L.A. CuJo wants to play somewhere close to Toronto, for family reasons.

I watched his brother play Sr. A the other night. Scrappy little guy, not much to him, but he's doesn't back down from anybody.

The NHL will hand off online streaming to the individual team if they want to broadcast their own games (in the local broadcasting area). Leafs TV Interactive streams games online for the Leafs instead of NHL.tv

Mats Sundin had only one point in the Leafs 8-1 win over the Islanders tonight, but it was a big one. Sundin scored the 7th goal, which gave him the Leafs all-time record for career goals (390) and points (917), eclipsing Darryl Sittler for both records. He was named all three stars of the game.
-
Not sure if this was posted or not..... Balsillie wants Preds again
-
Also of note in this game was that Sundin had been credited with an assist earlier in the game which gave him the points record, but the problem was that he never actually touched the puck. So after the standing ovation, Sundin skated over to the linesman and told them that he never touched the puck and shouldn't have had an assist, so they eventually did take it away from him. He then scored mere minutes after it was announced that the assist had been taken away.
-
I don't recall anybody ever saying that about him.
-
He's not going anywhere. Sundin's made it perfectly clear that he does not want to be a rental player.
-
It's hard to compare eras, but I'd say he's top-4 with Sittler, Keon & Apps.

Since Boulerice is like Downie and has no value to the NHL head office, I'd suspect you might see a 30+ game suspension here.

hahaha did anyone watch the Vs. game of Toronto and Carolina?

Because 7-1 is a lot better than a 12-1 score that would've happened if Raycroft had come in. -
All the best, Jason.

I think this pretty well concludes that this is Redden's last season in Ottawa.
-
There's nobody in the East as bad as the Coyotes. I predict the Islanders will be in last in the East and I think they're quite a bit better than the Coyotes.

Three waiver claims: - New Jersey Devils claimed Sheldon Brookbank - Vancouver Canucks claimed Mike Weaver - Atlanta Thrashers claimed Karel Pilar
-
They'll be competing with the Oilers in the Steven Stamkos sweepstakes.
-
Yeah, his wife is from Long Island, so that was the popular story. At least they got Kaberle fairly cheap.

My theory on that contract is as follows.... McCabe did not want to re-sign with the Leafs. However, he didn't want to appear as the bad guy, so he entered into negotiations and made outrageous demands, with the idea that the Leafs will break off negotiations. Once he realized that the Leafs were going to give in on all those demands, he realized that he wasn't going to get a better deal anywhere else, so he signed.
