indefinite suspension pending hearing
-
oh yeah, looks like all he wanted to do was tell him to STFU. For all we know this guy is 13 years old. Had he not been pulled away, I think that fan was about to be in the hallway. It doesn't matter if punches were thrown or not, that was assaulting a fan for doing what 99.9% of fans sitting in those same seats do every game to the opposing team. I'm not asking for his head, much like a lot of people out there. I think a fair punishment would be 5 games, some anger management, and possibly a fine. Oh and a PERSONAL apology to the fan. And as he has had run-ins in the past with the canucks team they need to ask themselves if he is a ticking time bomb.
-
Campbell alone may not have assessed more than a few games but I am willing to bet his phone is ringing off the hook by Bettman. He will surely sway the decision.
-
dude, sticks and stones. I highly doubt this guy said something more terrible than what players say to eachother every game. It's the fans job to irritate the opposing player. What would you think if after taunting a goalie by chanting his name he went ballistic? What is the difference? Words are words.

I personally don't believe it gives the league a black eye. The 'nucks? Yeah. Rypien, for sure. However, just because this isn't the worst thing to ever happen between a fan and a player doesn't mean Rypien should walk away from it. The fan did nothing compared to altercations in the past (throwing things at the player, jumping into the box). Rypien just short of attacked a spectator for being exactly that; a spectator. I don't know about you but when I go to a game and I am close enough for a player to hear what I have to say, I think of everything in the book. It is part of the game. I shouldn't have to fear that a PROFESSIONAL might try and pummel me. I say 10 games and the nucks need to assess if he is really worth keeping on the team. Perhaps the ducks could use him

Oh, good. By the video it looked like they were being escorted out. Hopefully they got moved to seats just as good if not better considering what they probably paid.
-
wow. I just watched the video. The fan was simply clapping as Rypien was exiting. It was a young lad too, looks like a teenager with his dad. The worse part? They got kicked out! It wasn't just a "push" it was more of a grab and shake about to throw a fist.

meh, I don't love it. But it is 110% better than what they have now.

you know what this team needs? More cowbell

Let me say that I am not panicked yet; HOWEVER, remember last season when we said the same thing? "It's early it's only game 3" "it's early, its only half way through the season" "oh s***...We might not make the playoffs"

Wisniewski makes obscene gesture towards Avery

AAAAAAAND there is it. Suspension likely I would say... Totally stupid. I am going to go ahead and order my Red Wings tutu. Hopefully Franzen scores a triple axle twist tonight. -
Wisniewski makes obscene gesture towards Avery

i've said it once, i'll say it again. This isn't the ballet. This is hockey, grown men playing an incredibly high emotion game. What about the times the mic's pick up swearing? Should the offender be dealt with and get his "A" ripped from his jersey? Please. This stuff happens in EVERY game, it just happened to get picked up this time. Like someone said above, why is it that violence is perfectly a.ok. or the fact that we have shows based entirely on sex; Cougar Town anyone? I am pretty sure far worse things are being said on prime time television shows than a gesture by some hockey player. It wasn't even that obscene, not like he was miming the family jewels and at least he left the tongue in cheek motion out -

Tomorrow night - What would you rather see?
NvrFrgtRussian5 replied to stevkrause's topic in General
malts for sure. I am in the minority that doesn't hate the guy. -
I know I am in the minority here; but I actually like Malts. I think he brought a little grit and got under players skin. I don't think he was the direct cause of many mistakes or goals (Lebda ahem). Sure, he is getting up in age but I would rather see him retire by complete choice at his own accord when he feels the time is right, not when he is semi-forced into the decision because he didn't make the big club. I think he has things he can teach the young guys in GR. I think his veteran presence and 4 stanley cups speak volumes to kids trying to play harder and harder. Here is to you Malts, hoping you can stick it out for the year. Maybe be part of a Stanley Cup winning organization one last time. Then you can happily retire.
