Goalie makes 95 saves in loss

In my game we lost 6-1 while being outshot 81-3 by one of the best teams in the state.

Will Capitals Backstrom be given 1 game suspension?

Steve Mason is also skipping the young stars game and he'll be able to play against detroit.

I know how the man feels. I once made 75 saves in a high school game.

AHL Player has seizure after a fight

Man, people need to learn how to fight and protect themselves. Take this fight for example:
  6. With only 22 players on the roster, possibly four players out with injuries and "injuries," and no cap room can they play with only 18 players?

    Canucks crying about travel woes

That's funny because the Wings are forced to go out west four times, not just once. p.s. I like the guys playing the violins.

I like this one. We did something similar at pep rallies in high school when people were banned from going to football games.

Will the Wings have enough players to play?

Is that the rule? I was thinking you had to have at least 18 or 19 dressed. If that's the case, there is really no other problem.

    All-Star Game Suspension Rule

That is my understanding of the situation. They aren't actually suspended. They just have to "sit out" to verify that they are actually injured and not just saying they're hurt. To me Datsyuk should be excluded because he proved he was injured by missing most of the third period against Phoenix. And Lidstrom should be excluded because he's played in the last nine or ten all-star games and should have some kind of seniority deal that allows him not to go.

Bettman suspends Lidstrom, Datsyuk 1-game each

Babcock needs to stick up for his players and not go. I hope the Wings win the cup this year on home ice so I can hear the crowd chant, "f*** you, Bettman." Then when Lidstrom comes to get the cup. He totally ignores Bettman, refuses to shake his hand, and skate off with the cup.

    Brian Rafalski

If we got this lineup by trading Rafalski I'm all for it. The only down side to it is nobody on the team (except Chelios, not sure about Abdelkader) has a right handed shot. They would need a right handed shot. That's why Lidstrom is better with Rafalski than he was with Schneider. Having a right handed shot is very important on the powerplay.

    NHL experimenting with new nets

I think Bettman wants to get it back to the gretzky days where you can take a weak wrister from the blueline, score, and rack up 200 points in a season. His main motivation for doing this is to give his lover boy, crosby a slim chance to break gretzky's record. Even though that record will never be broken.

This is why the NHL is great

Yeah, I've seen Big Ben and the Steelers, Shaq, and other teams do it. Sportscenter has a feature during the summer about these kinds of wishes.

    Zetterberg's Contract

I have a couple questions before I bring up a radical idea. First, is there a maximum number of years a contract can be? Second, if a player retires, does the team have to pay them the remainder of the salary?

    NHL experimenting with new nets

Actually, I read in the tsn article that the goalie's coach for the Ducks came up with the idea five years ago. I'm suprised that they didn't come up with a scoring system similar to football. You get six points for each goal and for an extra point the goalie gets to shoot on an open net from behind the goal line, or a penalty shot for two extra points. This would give the allusion of higher scoring along with the increased excitement for fans. Also, you get three points for hitting the post to resemble a field goal because you got close to scoring, but you couldn't finish the job. Seriously, I hate when people say hockey is a low scoring game and football isn't. Let's say a average score is 3-2. That equates to a 21-14 score in football, which is pretty normal. No reason to increase scoring.

I don't see how it will improve offense. It may improve the number of goals. It can't create more scoring chances. If anything, there will be less offense because the pucks won't bounce out, thus eliminating offense. The NHL needs to decide if they want more offense or more scoring and then make smarter decisions.

    Goalie Issues...

Conklin was the only reason why they even made the playoffs. They sucked until Fleury got hurt. I remember watching the game that it happened. He went out and Conklin came in and I remember thinking that I had never heard of this guy. He went on the beat Vancouver I believe in a shootout that game. They then went on like a ten game win streak. Conklin carried that team. Fleury is extremely overrated. He just benefited from being on a good team in a very weak conference.

One of the Leafs' players said that it made less pucks go in and that you had to be shooting from the middle of the ice to get the bounce.

    Goalie Issues...

I guess that's what I was trying to say. Kind of like when they got rid of him when Hasek came to town. I forget how he ended up in Long Island, whether he was traded, waived, released or free agency.

    Goalie Issues...

Don't expect the Wings to pick up a goalie this season. No contending team is going to trade their goalie and there aren't any teams not contending that have a decent goalie. They'll ride it out with what they have. Osgood will start the playoffs. If he can't perform, I'm sure Conklin will step in. Here's what I think will happen going into next year. If Osgood does well in the playoffs, he will be back next year with Howard as the back up. If he doesn't perform, I think there's a good chance the Wings will dump him and go get someone like Backstrom and bring up Howard. For all the Larsson lovers out there, the reason why I think Howard will be the back up is because he is no longer waiver exempt after this season. And it gives Larsson more time to develop while we get to see if Howard pans out. But as for now, Osgood and Conklin will the goalies for the rest of the year.

    Stuart?

I saw an article saying that he was trying to convince the trainers to let him keep playing, but they wanted to take some precautions. I'm suprised he didn't get hurt more. It's like one of those stories of a parachuter free falling to the ground and getting nothing worse than a cut.

    Questionable Goals

It shouldn't have counted. The camera view was at crossbar-level, if not below and the puck was above the crossbar from that view. Also, the player's stick was parallel to the ice. If you follow his stick it was clearly over the bar. Toronto screwed it up, but it puts the Wings one more point closer to the Bruins.
