    Winter Classic Jersey

I thought it was. I went to some of his camps and he came to some of my high school practices my freshman year to work with me and the other goalies.

    Winter Classic Jersey

I saw that Bob Zion was listed as a coach. Is that the same Bob Zion that coached at EMU and Clay High School?

Where do you want the next Winter Classic be?

That could be a good game, but I chose the Maple Leafs because it would be huge for ratings along with having two original six teams with a lot of history going at it. Another good idea to go along with that game is having the Cold War II with a Michigan/Michigan State game on New Year's eve. Even though that would be a great idea to tie the two games together, I don't think it would happen because of the World Juniors. I like the Stars/Wild idea. And I think the residents of Winnipeg wouldn't be too happy about seeing the Coyotes coming into town. Extra security may be needed. lol

Where do you want the next Winter Classic be?

I think next year the Winter Classic should be hosted by the Bruins at Fenway Park and play either the Rangers or Canadiens. I think Fenway would be a great venue for it. And unlike Wrigley, the sightlines would be much better. You put the rink down the first base line and build stands to the side of it and have people on top of the monster. Here are the match ups that I would like to see over the next few years: Rangers vs. Bruins @ Fenway Park Maple Leafs vs. Red Wings @ Michigan Stadium (this would be an awesome game. 112,000 people) Canadiens vs. Maple Leafs @ Rogers Center Avalanche vs. Wild @ U. of Minn's new football stadium Red Wings vs. Avalanche @ Invesco Field Flyers vs. Penguins @ Happy Valley Flames vs. Oilers Sharks vs. Blue Jackets @ Ohio Stadium (if columbus ever gets their act together) Penguins vs. Capitals @ RFK Rangers vs. Devils @ Giants Stadium

    Top Ten Goals of 2009

I think it was Pierre that said it. But wouldn't it help the defensemen get back faster too??

    Future Wings

Filppula isn't going. You guys have to realize that not everyone on the team can put up 90 points a season. Here's what will happen if he were to be traded. He goes to some bad team and plays on the first or second line along with powerplay time. He'll then begin putting up big numbers and everyone on here will complain about why we traded him and didn't give him more time. The same thing happened with Kyle Quincey and that Mattias guy that went to Flordia. Someone said something about trading him to get a first round pick? Good Luck finding someone to give up a first round pick for him. Filppula is a good player. He would be at least a second line player, if not first on any other team in the league. If anyone here can give me a name of a player that plays on the third line, has no powerplay time and has put up big numbers for more than one year, i'll retract this statement. But good luck doing so. Everyone here needs to chill out.

    The all start vote...

There's a lot of fraud involved is this. Also, I think a lot of it has to do with texting. you can just text your team's name in and it will vote for all the players that are on the ballot. The selection process should be left up to the players, coaches, and GM's. It's a shame that all the starters come from only four teams (Blackhawks, Ducks, Habs, and Pens). A lot of players who are starters shouldn't be starting. Guys like Campbell, Kane/Toews, Kovelev, and Fleury/Price. Then you got the whole thing about injured players getting voted in. Gonchar and Whitney have not played one game. Komeserik has played about ten and Fleury has been out for half the season and still sucks. Let the people who deserve it start. P.S. No Tim Thomas on the ballot. There's problem #1.

Bettman: Oilers need a new arena

Maybe they should install catheters in every seat so people don't have to get up and wait in line to go to the bathroom.

    Interesting Statistics

And out of the three games that weren't a one-goal game, two of them were one-goal games until the Wings scored a empty-netter (Carolina and Atlanta). So really it's been 14/15 games for the Wings. It's amazing to have that many one-goal games and still be 10-2-3.

    Kronwall and Stuart

I watched replays of the three goals scored against tonight and both Kronwall and Stuart were on the ice for all three goals and were greatly responsible for the goals. The first goal, Stuart was just coming out of the box and wasn't able to help out. But the big mistake was Kronwall getting caught flat-footed at the blueline and letting Recchi take the inside part of the ice. Much blame can't be put on them on the second goal because they were on the PK and it looked like they were in good position. Just that Osgood was slow to getting over again. On the third goal they were both the reason why the goal was scored. They both refused to leave their man to go after the guy with the puck. The guy with the puck walked right in and scored. I can see why Kronwall stayed on his man in the low slot, but he should have left him when Stuart made a dumbass move by following his guy behind the net. Also, they are turning the puck over too much. Don't get me wrong here. I like both guys and think they are very good hockey players. But the last few games have shown some weaknesses.

    Kronwall and Stuart

The guy was coming from the corner. Stuart should have left his man to take him and let the other guy go behind the net.

    Brad McCrimmon

Is he the reason for the horrible defensive play? If so, should he be getting ready to pack his things?

    Brad McCrimmon

    haha well put
  16. I don't think it's the back checking. The wings backchecking is excellent and definitely better than any other in the NHL. Who knows what the problem is. We went from the best defensive team to one of the worst in just a few months.

I've got one major problem with Babcock

Well, usually you put your best players on the ice in a close game within the last few minutes. Hudler is not one of the best players on the team. Besides, when you have Hossa, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Draper, and Flippula as some of the best defense forwards in the league, there isn't much ice time available for other guys on the team.
  18. Everybody has looked horrible on defense this year. Even Lidstrom isn't playing that great. They need to fix this quickly. They can't score six goals every night to cover their asses. Also, can this decline on defense be linked to the hiring of Brad McCrimmon?

    # of Hall of Famers this dynasty will produce?

How about Hakan Andersson? I don't know if they put scouts in the Hall, but the man has to be the best scout ever. How can someone find so many good players in the 6th and 7th rounds? He got Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Ericsson.

    The Elephant in the Room

redbird, there is no reason for you to go on a huge rant about cleary, lilja, or babcock. The Wings are 9-2-2 and haven't been playing any good. The only problem the team has had is with its defense. And as for your reasons for why dan cleary sucks, I can't believe a word you said after your point about stealing a goal from Hossa. I watched a replay of that goal and it clearly shows that Hossa passed the puck to Cleary. Plus, how selfish would it have been for Hossa to go out there trying to get a hat trick when his team is trying to protect a one-goal lead with Atlanta throwing everything they can at them. Cleary is one of the hardest workers on the team. He went from having no work in the NHL to scoring 20 goals for the best team in the NHL. He is for sure a team player. The reason why he is playing on the powerplay is because Franzen is hurt and he's the only one that has the balls to stand in front of the net and take a beating. Just look at his assist on the tying goal in Anahiem and the hit he put on Dion Phanuef a couple of years ago in the playoffs that lead to goal. Last year he was one of the best players on the team only to be sidelined after being hit in the face by Samuelsson. I am not a Cleary lover, but the man works hard and deserves to be on this team.

    Lebda Must Go

I agree that Lebda is playing really, but everyone else is playing bad defense. Even Lidstrom isn't up to his normal standards. Can this bad defensive play be linked to Brad McCrimmon?
