I like how everytime a tough guy is signed, a thread instantly pops up on here containing the following things: He would have fit in well here. Why didn't we sign him? Wake up Kenny! This team is so soft. Here's to missing the playoffs. Sign Downey. We need Moen, Grier or Betts. Our goaltending sucks. Everyone is getting better while we're getting worse.

I think Zherdev would be a perfect pick up. He has a right handed shot, good stick handling ability and can put the puck in the net. I watched him when he was in Columbus and he has the potential to be a good player. He also played the point on the powerplay. He's a lot like Kolvolchuk back there. He doesn't have the amazing one-time shot that Ilya has, but he's pretty good back there. The only back thing I can remember is that he tries to make a sweet stick handling play like he did in that video when he comes into the zone, but ended up losing the puck more often then not.

First couple years in the NHL + being on the Blue Jackets= -46

What do you guys think about bringing back Jason Williams? He had 19 goals and 28 assists last year with Atlanta and Columbus. He also played the point on the PP in Columbus which could make him a replacement for Samuelsson on the second unit.

Remember when they signed Zetterberg and Franzen during season instead of waiting until now? And please don't tell me you didn't expect people to leave. Someone mention earlier they'll be losing around 80 goals. It's not like they need to make up for them all. They scored 37 more goals in 08-09 than in 07-08. That mostly has to do with Hossa. Here are some stats and reasons why they may make up for it this year. Goals in 07-08 08-09 Filppula 19 12 Moved from the 2nd to 3rd line. Very limited powerplay time. Cleary 20 14 Moved around in the lineup a lot. Had a lot less PP time. Holmstrom 20 14 Wasn't healthy all season and wasn't with Pav and Z all year. Franzen 27 34 Became an absolute beast at the end of the 07-08 season. Datsyuk 31 32 Nothing changed. Potential to put up over 100 points. Zetterberg 43 31 Spent very little time with Pavel; therefore, drastically reducing production. So if everyone got back to what they did in 07-08 (expect Pav and Mule) then they will get back 39 of the 80 goals they lost with Hossa, Samuelsson, and Hudler. That will get them past the 252 goal mark they had in 07-08 (The year that they won the cup and the President's Trophy). But the main thing they need to worry about in the GOALS AGAINST. They gave up 61 more goals in 08-09 than in 07-08. You take 41 of those away and then you get back all of those 80 goals. Note: This is just a minipulation of stats to try to cool some people down. No need to get too fired up over it. I know it's not likely for Holmstrom to score 20 goals.

Was anyone watching when NBC came back from a commercial break and showed the little kid holding up his index fingers side by side and Doc Emrick said, "That's the signal for Dan Cleary"? My brother and I lol'd when he said that. I also heard Olczyk laughing in the background. What do you guys think? Could this be a new a thing for whenever Dan Cleary scores?

I know from experience that there are only a couple scenarios that it would be a good idea for a goalie to make a strech pass up the ice. The two scenarios are if a player from the other team is coming down on you or when the other team goes for a line change. Otherwise it isn't smart to move it up that quickly because the defense will jump on the player or puck and send it back down. Another reason why it would be a good idea is because the wings switch units after a minute and you need to allow the second unit to get set up.

I will lose major respect for Chicago fans if

Does anyone have the video for this game? It's no longer on youtube.

I thought he was going to mention the Colorado game in 2002.

I can see why they might have a problem with it, but it's not that big of a deal. At the start of every Blue Jackets game, they have an assistant coach tell the viewers what their three keys to the game are. So I guess those keys to the game aren't much of a secret. Or maybe that's why it took the Jackets so long to make the playoffs???

Was anyone thinking that we were going to get free Arby's today after both Franzen and Hossa had two goals? I was so excited when they had that two-on-one, but didn't score. Someone needs to get a hat trick this season.

Well put. When will people realize that scoring goals isn't everything in hockey?
-
No. Re-sign Hudler and let Hossa go. Keep some cap space available.

I don't either has happen. I'm pretty all five teams from a division have all made the playoffs. And my only guess for the second question would be Montreal in the 70's. But I doubt either has happened.
