Who is the most improved Red Wing from last season?
Blueliner replied to Yzerman191's topic in General
Lilja. Last year, I couldn't stand him and wanted to kick Ken Holland's ass when he resigned him. Now this year, I like him a lot. He's keeping everything really simple. -
oh wow. now that you said something, they do look alike. if he played hockey the way doctor house is a doctor, he would be an excellent player. Just think. a player that goes around pissing people off, but can score a lot of goals too.
-
Just look at Pittsburgh. They gave up everyone for Hossa and Dupuis and were only able to keep Dupuis.
-
Get it done, Kenny!!! lol
-
Those are some pretty sweet goals. I think McCarty's should be number one just because of the significance and also because how often does a guy like him score a goal like that.
-
Those guys were amazing tonight. They dominated the play while they were out there. I was watching the San Jose feed and they interviewed Draper after the second and he was saying that he really enjoys playing with Leino and thinks he's a very good player.

We should make the series of trades I made in my NHL 09 dynasty, I traded Chelios, Lilja, and Quincey to Washington for Backstrom and two prospects. I then traded Backstrom for Kovalchuk. And then I traded him for Ovechkin. Get it done, Kenny!

I didn't get to watch the game last night because I was at the Jackets/Ducks game. How did Howard look? From what I could see in the highlights, he gave up some weak goals. I think it was just that he needed to adjust a little bit to the faster pace of the NHL.

If they want to make cap room, they'll trade him after the season. Besides, giving up a good forward with four years left on his deal, a speedy defenseman, and who knows what prospect/draft pick is way too much for one guy at the trade deadline. Hell, Fedorov went to Washington for a freshman defenseman at Notre Dame last year.

MAAAA THE MEATLOAF!!! MAKE ME A BICYCLE CLOWN!!!! lol. Just wish that all of them would actually fit in.
-
HELL YEAH, if I'm Florida. But as far as Detroit, HELL NO. It's giving up way too much for a guy that will only be here for the rest of the year.

Here it is straight from the man's mouth: http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...0341/1128/rss16

I love it how after Stevie scored that goal, Scotty Bowman ran out onto the ice right behind all the players.

Yeah, if I'm Florida.

I like when he said he dances rock-n-roll with the puck and that he belongs to Reebok.

Filppula has the most Even Strength points after Z, D, Hossa
Blueliner replied to Z and D for the C's topic in General
Franzen is not very good defensively. He doesn't back-check and he can't clear the zone late in games. Other than his ability to win faceoffs, Draper's defensive game has made a pretty big tumble. Just look at his +/-. And to say Cleary is a better defender than Filppula is a joke. If he was better defensively why does Filppula play a hell of a lot more on the PK than he does. Filppula is a pretty damn good defender. He's quick and it looks like he's learning from Pavel on how to steal the puck by lifting a guy's stick. I hope he's here for years to come. -
Pens fans think so too. http://www.letsgopens.com/scripts/phpBB3/v...f=1&t=32742

Why haven't the Wings put Homer on the LTI? They should put him on there and bring up Abdelkader or maybe even Howard (if he would be able to be sent back down).
-
I never realized Lidstrom looked so much like NPH. Also, Modano looks a lot like Phil Mickelson.
-
We should see if we can get Backstrom for a second round pick. Or Craig Anderson for a third. And we can throw in Ozzie to give them a bench warmer.

The Canucks are currently paying someone that has fewer than ten career points $6.75 million a year. This guy is putting up 0 goals for $6.75 mil/year. By your logic that sound pretty outrageous. But this player is one of the best in the league at playing his certain role. He's not suppose to score goals every night. Because he is so good at playing his role, his team wins a lot more games than they should. Think about it. Btw, that Larionov guy you're talking about is in the Hall of Fame.

I don't know why Holland would sign him for five years after he had already signed Hossa if he wasn't going to keep him around. He has played on third line all year. And now that he is playing with Hossa, he's racking up the points. I think he has 7 points in the last 9 games. You can't expect him to put up Datyuk and Zetterberg numbers when he's playing with Cleary and Samuelsson the whole year. I've said it before and I'll say it again. If Filppula goes to another team, he will play on the first or second line and rack up some serious numbers. Then everyone on here will begin to ***** about how Holland is an idiot and how he should be fired for trading him. Let Franzen go and keep most of the team together. I like Franzen, but he's not worth getting rid of have the team. He's a good scorer and that's about it. He's horrible defensively and doesn't even backcheck. How many times has Franzen had the puck on his stick late in a game and was unable to clear the zone leading to a goal (Game 5 against Anahiem). This team needs to be built around defense. We already have plenty of scoring. Filppula is the forth best defesive forward behind Zetterberg, Datsyuk and Hossa. He needs to stay.
