LOL! Which one of these does not belong here? Clearly the Toronto addition is purely out of consideration for his friends and family because there is simply no way he goes there.

Anyone here seen The Wire: Season 1? Kinda reminds me of when Freamon and McNulty are at the bar and Freamon warns McNulty that eventually there will come a time when the boss will ask McNulty for a list of places he wants to go. And look how that turns out.

Credit should be given to Pierre Gauthier, GM of the Ducks in 2000, who traded for their Conn Smythe winning goaltender. That's who deserves the credit. Anybody remember this quote? Source Funny how Burke gets all the praise for a team that already had so many pieces in place. Is it a coincidence that the one glaring criticism of the Leafs in his tenure is that he hasn't been close to finding a suitable goaltender himself? Burke touts a philosophy of "net out" building, yet has never built one himself.

The day after someone on here started a thread about the Pens losing streak, they turned around and won 8 straight and a Malkin went off too. Karma. It exists.

You'll all be happy to know that here in Canada on the TSN site, the Red Wings historic victory is featured JUST below a Raptors loss, a Sens win, and a story on a CFL team. Canada. Knows. Hockey.

And I see your point as well, but has anyone really asked themselves, "Do the Red Wings even NEED Rick Nash?" A huge reason we're successful throughout the years is depth, and a trade for Nash critically hinders that depth not only for the remainder of this season, but for seasons to come. The "promoting from within" you speak of can't happen if you trade for Nash because the players you are hoping to promote are unquestionably going to be shipped to Columbus to get Nash. The Jackets aren't giving up Nash for some shot in the dark kids, they're gonna want kids who are ready to play now, which means Tatar/Nyqvist/Smith etc. Also, even if Parise wants 7+ in the off-season, he's got 3 extra years on Nash to spread it out and the Wings would have a much clearer picture in the off-season of who is/isn't staying before committing to a gigantic contract like Nash's. Oh, and there's also that little thing called the CBA which is a whole nightmare altogether. Who knows how it's going to change our spending. Morale of my rant: No thanks. Hope he lands on his feet somewhere other than Detroit.

In taking on the Nash contract, you just lost $3.9 million extra dollars to boost your secondary scoring instead of waiting to go after someone like Parise in the offseason. At which time, a FAR more sensible contract with a far less cap hit could be negotiated. Hell, even if you took Parise at his current price alone you would be saving $1.8 million as well as holding onto Franzen AND your prospect.
-
To Wings: $7.8 million dollar cap hit (Nash) To Jackets: $3.95 million dollar cap hit (Franzen) + highly rated prospect. You've also not only just strengthened a team in your own conference, but in your own division as well as doubled your cap hit for half the players.

Hope he finds a good home...in the Eastern Conference.

I'm picking the Rangers to come out of the East. IMHO Lundqvist can out play Thomas, Gaborik can be a game changer, and if Callahan can continue his play then I think the Rangers can pull it out. The Bruins have played the most hockey out of any team in the East the past year too, so putting them against a very hungry Rangers team, especially the later the playoffs go, gives the edge to the Rangers.

Nice to the the hosts, the UofM folks, getting some love from the NHL. If this scenario is the way it's going to take place, I believe there will be a lot of upset people on this forum. Also, if this years WC is any indication, season ticket holders for both the Red Wings and Leafs will be forced to purchase tickets to all other events (alumni/OHL/AHL/etc). Which means that even if you didn't get tickets to the WC and just wanted to see the other events, availability will greatly decline.

Now that I've seen the pictures, if I attend the Winter Classic and Nick isn't there, I'm demanding a refund on the basis of false advertising.

Happy "Official Announcement" Day!

Mr. Clutch!!!
-
This one should be a good test for both sides. Oilers have been decent the last few games and having Jimmy out will means they will fire everything on net so the D has to be solid. Looking forward to watching this on CBC tonight. GO WINGS GO!!!
-
I said a good first period was needed with 1-2 goals to win. Here we are. Just saying. GO WINGS GO!!!

My grandfather suffered from this before passing away. When this man passes away, I'm going to weep like an infant and throw elbows at anyone who dares tease me about it. All the best Mr. Hockey. We love you.
-
Nothing will please me more than seeing him get Kronwalled again. Need a strong first period and at least 1-2 goals to win tonight I think. Time for Hank to step up and contribute with a pair tonight because we can't have Hudler carrying the line forever! GO WINGS GO!!!

Come out fighting! GO WINGS GO!!!

I will lay a gold brick if the Wings can get Morrow.

Well sports fans, have a good night. Put this one in the rearview and come back swinging after the AS break. GO SCOTCH...er...WINGS GO!!!
