The NHL suspended both Pav and Nick for sitting out the All-Star game and said that they were simply following a rule that had been established. This scenario should be no different. You break a rule, you suffer the consequences. Then again, this IS the NHL we're talking about.

Jacked this from another site: So, according to this: - Barker's 2008 salary = $984,200 = <$1 million = $984,200*105% = $1,033,410 Qualifying offer - Versteeg's 2008 salary = $490,00 = <660,000 = $490,000*110% = $539,000 Qualifying offer

Which was the entire point of my post.

If Hossa felt "pressure" or was "nervous" facing the Pens as his former team, god help him when he faces the Wings.

Signed. 5 years at $6.1 http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=283415

Ottawa Sun: Wings have made lucrative long term offer to Hossa

Impossible. Harding could never look across the locker room and see Datsyuk without s***ting his pants and crying uncontrollably. -
I like the idea of the Flyers/Bruins match up, but I just shake my head when I think that NBC figures that the ratings will be higher with the Flyers as opposed to the Caps. How does having the NHL's most showboating and explosive offensive player who's won the Hart and Lester B Pearson awards for the past two years not make for ratings? This is perfect Ovechkin showtime if you ask me. The whole NHL fanbase will only be watching this ONE game and its situations like this (see: 2008 All-Star Game) that bring out the showman in OV. Add to this he's on the cover of NHL 2K10 and I don't really see how NBC can say they won't get ratings from the Caps being the second team. Then again, simply discussing anything regarding NBC and the NHL is likely to produce ridiculousness anyway.

I think this season was about as "successful" as a team could have without winning the Cup. How many teams can say that they took 4 players from their AHL team and took them to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals and can actually point out huge contributions from each of them that not only kept them in certain games, but won a few of them. Seriously, we just gave Helm, Leino, Abdelkader, and Ericsson all the experience and heartbreak they'll need to be foaming at the mouth next season. The future is bright my friends. Combine this with all the vets we'll have coming back as well as an inevitable Holland miracle or two and its hard to be upset about this season for very long and not be excited for the next. GO WINGS GO!!!

Because you're a very smart individual, of course.

Whatever the Pens do with it can't be worse than what the Stars did with it: http://jam.canoe.ca/Music/Artists/P/Panter.../28/748635.html Leave it to the frogs to always toss the Cup in a damn pool.

Longshot but is it possible Penguins could match what Oilers

I see what you did there. -
Anyone know the last time a Cup winning team was shutout of the NHL Awards?
-
I nominate this as quote of the year.
-
Fixed it for ya.
-
I wonder if the party included a tour of Crosby's bedroom.

This thread almost rivals the "Zetterberg is a disgrace" thread in its ridiculousness. -
If you've played any more than 25 regular season games in any previous season you aren't eligible. Helm had 16 last year so he's still eligible.

Yes. A thousand times yes. At this risk of sounding like Pierre Maguire, this kid is a MONSTER! First time I saw him play was the Canada vs. Sweden exhibition game at the ACC and the second time was in a Brampton Battalion playoff game where he dropped a hat trick and assisted on the OT winner. I'm insanely jelous of the fact he's playing for Vancouver. Credentials: - Named to the World Junior Championships All-Star Team in 2009 - Named the OHL All-Star Classic Player of the Game in 2009 - OHL All-Star Classic record; most points, single-game - 5 - Brampton Battalion franchise record; point-scoring streak - 23 games - Won the William Hanley Trophy (OHL's Most Sportsmanlike) in 2009. - Won the Red Tilson Trophy (OHL's Most Outstanding Player) in 2009. - Named to the OHL First All-Star Team in 2009. - Named the CHL Player of the Year in 2009. Watching this kid is worth the price of admission alone.

I smell Brian Burke all over this.

Did I miss the playoff run where they both won a Conn Smyth and Stanley Cup?

Hope this hasn't already been posted, but the people over at The Hockey News gave a good write up here: http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/2680...ng-snipers.html
