I don't know if a suspension here or there for legal but very severe hits will really deter players from finishing their checks. I don't think anyone has suggested that you can't hit someone with their head down at all either. It's more of a fine line than that - probably more along the lines of "you can hit the guy with his head down, but for chrissakes don't try to kill him". If 10% is taken off either of those checks the same lesson is learned and a few brain cells are kept in tact (the guy may still even be injured).

Both are legit hockey hits. The difference though is that kids play in the OHL, and Hockey Canada has a moral responsibility to protect them even if that overrides some fundamental game rules.

Sammy put up a big couple goals against the Pens in the cup run and an OT goal against the Hawks, so he is ok by me. We wouldn't be counting on him to get us there, just to help us win it. He has done that before. His defensive deficiencies were only glaring because we used his right hand shot on the point on the PP. Now with Ian White doing a fabulous job, Sammy wouldn't be killing shinguards on the blueline. Just please not long term though.

Is Nicklas Lidstrom The Greatest Detroit Red Wing Of All Time?
kook_10 replied to up2here's topic in General
Gordie was top 5 in league scoring for 20 straight years. That equals best Red Wing. I would say Stevie Y still exemplifies the Ilitch era Red Wings. Nick has never experienced the adversity of Stevie, and as such never epitomized the guttiness, skill, tenacity, and work ethic in the way the Captain did. I agree however, that Nick may be the smartest hockey player ever (or on par with Gretzky). -
League takeover of cash-strapped Devils may be inevitable

Newark Penn is surrounded by crackhead zombies. It is not a pleasant place to travel through, especially if you walk on the street to the Rock rather than through the buildings. Brendan Byrne / the Izod center was a much better location, especially now that they have train service to the Meadowlands from the city. -
Bert!! Flipper makes it happen!
