  4. Meehan had been making calls since mid December when Nabby got released, so he must have known. It was publicly known and printed in the press that he would have to clear waivers. My guess is that he only recently discovered the loophole that actually allowed him to sign a contract before he went on the wire. If anything he clearly did a poor job in managing his client's expectations.

I was in love with Abby's fire earlier in the season. It's just hasn't been there lately.

    Playing hockey

Good for you and good luck getting out there! You could learn on your own, but bad habits tend to last a lifetime. I would bet there are beginners' clinics at your local rink or one nearby. Those are the best because there will be people who can help you, but also it will push you, which is important. I've coached a lot of beginners, and they always seem to do best when they skate with a group a little beyond their ability. Skating with the guys will also let you gauge where you are at and let you know when you are ready for some games. The toughest thing for beginners is getting used to bending your knees so much. The key to balance and 95% of skating is keeping your knees nice and bent. If you don't do that you will fall a lot and get knocked over even more. Beginners tend to get frustrated and a little lazy about bending your knees because it can be hard work at first and you may end up really sore. You can do lunges and knee bends to help get in good skating shape. The same goes with your back. If you watch a player over the course of a game, he will probably bend over and back 100 times over the course of a game. Its not a mystery that so many hockey players have back issues. A beginner isn't going to be used to that either. Stretching and a strong core will help you minimize the stiffness and soreness you will most likely have in the beginning. Have fun!

    I hate the Ducks

That's some good Ivy League humor there!

Joke of the day - Giguere willing to waive no trade clause

Right - but his star was made with 63 saves in game 1 of the playoffs against the Wings ...and the series .977 sv% and 1.00 GAA... They put him on a heater that he rode til the end. I remember it being the most frustrating series ever because it seemed like all 171 shots they had were bad angles or just plain crappy.

Joke of the day - Giguere willing to waive no trade clause

The Wings made him a star - he was never as good as they made him look.

Datsyuk out 4-5 weeks with broken bone in hand

Dats had Vokoun out on Fort Street. This guy didn't even have the goalie leaning the wrong way. Cool to see Pasha's influence though.

1/15 GDT: Blue Jackets 5 at Red Wings 6 (OT)

I feel like there was there was an expectation of development in there too, despite his age and origins elsewhere, and that's why he was kept in favor of others. Wings grinders don't stay 4th liners forever, and he doesn't fit the mold of a plug. His PK has definitely come along, but he had been invisible 5 on 5 for a long stretches this season. If he keeps it up on the O side, he will certainly be all that everyone hoped for and possibly more.

1/15 GDT: Blue Jackets 5 at Red Wings 6 (OT)

After a long underwhelming start he has definifely begun to play better and make an impact on the ice. However, two games against the Jackets does not a season make. He's a likable guy and we'd all like to see him continue to play well and stay as a result.
