I'm just suffering from a lack of sarcastic emoticons on my phone. I thought I would save him the trouble though.

I said floor. You wouldn't make it to the ice after EZBAKE made the fruitlessness of your effort abundantly clear in every one of a barrage of posts leading up to the game.
-
EZBAKE would mop the floor with all of you.

If it was indeed $1M I agree, but I think if it was $1M the deal would be done already. I get the feeling that a cool mil is the magic number which his pride doesn't want to go below. If McCosky is right and its more like $800k, then I could see how a little money could have a big effect and open up salary as a topic of discussion with other teams (which it appears to have done).

Pride can be a big thing. I'm sure he is smart enough to realize the constraints of what the Wings could provide, but to be wined dined and lowballed might sting for a first ballot HOFer. If he played a full year he could very well put up Bert numbers and end up with Eaves money. Everybody wants to win, but he has a Cup and getting another one is far from a slam dunk so I would bet his motivation in coming to Detroit would be more to take a victory lap in his home town. Taking a contract that is modestly above entry level probably might feel more like charity than something he earned and take away the home town good vibes.

http://www.detnews.com/article/20100712/SPORTS0103/7120394/1361/Wings--offer-may-not-be-enough-for-Modano McCosky is guessing the Wings offered him around $800k. I can't say I would blame the guy for waffling if that was the case.

Thanks! Well, like Duke Ellington said "there are two kinds of music: good music, and the other kind". I kinda go by that. I would venture to guess that cusimano has the biggest and most eclectic catalog around here though. I tend to stick to classics in any given genre. Diminuendo and Crescendo in Blue - Duke Ellington
