I think the guys on the ice are perfectly capable of calling a tighter game as well given different circumstances. I just don't know what kind of direction, if any, the IOC gives the officiating crew. Do they establish some guidelines or do the individual refs just bring their own style to the table and let it whirl?

I think it was appropriate for the style of the teams on the ice. I don't think calling the game so loose would necessarily be as fair if the final was Canada v Finland, but obviously it was not.

You really do think every international game is about world supremacy don't you? Jeez you guys are wound so tight about this s***.
