We'll send it to the boys down in the Office of Redundancy Office and have them work something up for the morning.

Bigger players always look out for their smaller teammates. It has been this way since the beginning of time. It's a natural law of hockey.

i'm confused - whose pole would you like to see?

I'm not hanging the loss on Ozzie nor am I looking to string him up, then team skated like s*** and no goalie would have bailed them out of this one. Without a doubt they had a ton of defensive zone lapses and gave up way too many power plays. The rest of the team's play notwithstanding, Ozzie looked bad too. I wouldn't rule out that it could have something to do his lack of starts, but that wouldn't change the fact that he was on his knees early all night and his lateral movement was awful. Yes Howard has lost recently too, but he looks more confident and fundamentally sound. Ozzie has given the team nothing to rally around all year, Howard has. This team needs something and someone to rally around and Howard, if anybody, has been that guy. If Dats and Z were carrying more of the load I'd say the spark in goal would be less important but that's not the case.

While that is true, he also says that for Ozzie's benefit. For as cocky as he comes off sometimes, Ozzie needs more confidence stroking than most goalies. If Nick hung that loss on him, he'd be up in the rafters with homie in no time.

The player that he has been for years is still better than Eaves or Miller, though that doesn't say much. They are respectable bangers though.
-
We can only hope that sitting and watching these guys will light a fire under his ass. He's only got a one year deal, so to be outplayed by Eaves or Miller would be very detrimental to his career. As a veteran I would think he gets what he has to do for himself and for the team. I have faith - him and Flip actually had some great chemistry before both their injuries.

oh yeah - Pierre McGuire. The sport needs less Pierre McGuire, and by less I mean no.

The attention paid to officiating is what I think is s***ty these days. For better or worse, the officiating had its share of s***ty calls in the past, but ever since there have been grander discussions of rule changes it has become a "problem". Now, no matter what happens people will find "problems" with the officiating. If the rules never changed or if the current rules never change people will get over it and deal with it. The whole idea that the league has to constantly address "problems" puts in motion a moving ball that will never end. You will find as many "problems" as you go looking for. Let people acclimate to the game, not the other way around. There is no purity of sport in constant change.
