Lou Reed concert - 9/30/73 City Hall, Newcastle, England http://www.wolfgangsvault.com/lou-reed/con...er-30-1973.html [Wolfgang's Vault is the best!]

My dad took me to the Old Red Barn before I was old enough to remember - probably around 3 or so in '78. I started playing myself the next year at Canfield in Dearborn Heights. I learned the game with the Wings and went to many games at the new Joe until we moved out to LA in '84.

there were a few versions before Woodward and Evans as well.

I saw him play with Abbotsford against Chicago a couple months ago. He seems to have relatively good sense, but his skating leaves a lot to be desired.

Someone brought up this great NY Times article on HF Boards about a lawsuit over ref Dean Warren's firing, and how the NHL evaulates its refs: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/03/sports/h.../03referee.html
-
in the link on TSN After looking at it a few times, it still looks like Burrows dives on the first play, although most refs would call that holding the stick and get less resistance to it. ***[it's not really about the penalties themselves, but about the alleged bias of the referee]
-
There is three sides to every story. In this case we have Burrows', probably won't hear Auger's, and probably won't get the truth. I suspect the truth was more like "I saw the replay from the game the other night and it's clear that you embellished. I'm gonna have my eye on you tonight." That's still no excuse for the s***ty interference call.
-
...whatever keeps you warm at night.

How is that he "didn't think" it was diving? He was the one who did it. Either he dove or he didn't. Looks to me like he grabbed the stick and took a flop backward. From his statement it sounds like he dove, just didn't think it was a big enough dive to get called. If you got called for diving I would think you would take some offense and say "I didn't dive". The interference call was definitely weak though.

They were the better team that night for sure. You can cry about that all you want. I am sure you will.

Tikkanen kissed Keith Jones on the nose just to piss him off. -
Did you see where that poster was from?

Tikkanen had the best Finnish/Canadian accent ever. Finnish is a naturally percussive language so I can only imagine that listening to his jawing would be like getting pecked to death by a duck. -

one time Wing Bryan "Bugsy" Watson is up there http://washingtoncapitalslegends.blogspot....gsy-watson.html Dino did a hell of a job, so did Tikkanen, Verbeek and Ulfie. Claude Lemieux comes to mind as well - I'll hate that guy to the day I die. -
Here's a nice little piece on Twister where he explains his role.
-
who exactly does "Russian Houdini" refer to? Pavel the Escape Artist Datsyuk? It makes me think of Leino - like the Finnish Copperfield and his disappearing act.
-
yeah - Calgary falling to Columbus at home wasn't exactly a shining moment either.
