I agree. Its often those same "skilled players" who end up getting plowed when that extra room that is created is used to line them up. If there wasn't the extra space out there then there wouldn't be quite so many borderline charges. For instance, Matthias Ohlund wouldn't just watch Chris Neil just fly right through the defensive zone and plow Viktor Hedman. It was a clean hit no doubt, but many like this end up scrambling a guys brains because they're not allowed to slow down the forecheck anymore.

you're arguing that hatred of a rival needs to be rational. i disagree. in fact, a Red Wings board in a thread about Crosby complaints would be where I would expect to find a fair number of Wings fans who hate Crosby, possibly even irrationally.

Offensively lost is one thing, but not moving his feet is another. He needs to get em going then he will be alright. Remember Russ Cortnall? He made a career out of being offensively lost and just moving his feet. He went a million miles an hour - where? No one knows.

So I'm not so sure that Ville's benching on Saturday had much of an effect. Last night he seemed relatively invisible again, and when I did see him he was bent over at the waist reaching for guys instead of moving his feet. What do you guys think?

i think the offense has had a big hand in the last couple games. their passes have been on the mark, they've been reversing the breakout well, and they've generally been playing the puck possession game well. they have improved defensively in the neutral zone and with a speedy forecheck, but the Wings defense in their own zone hasn't looked that much better if at all. there were plenty of chances.
