i edited that to "He reflects poorly on American hockey players despite his talent." before you hit reply to tone it down. he gives American hockey players a bad name by being so whiny and playing the hockey race card. if the guy just put his head down and worked hard he would be revered. i'm not sure that he had more character than was a character, and thats the issue.
-
yeah, that will happen Babs doesn't like Americans. I could have liked Jeremy if he wasn't such an obnoxious ass. He reflects poorly on American hockey players despite his talent.
-
If he ended up like Jere Lehtinen in his prime I may be just as happy with that.

I dont understand the logic in saying he squandered a whopping 47 seconds of PP time a game. Only a fraction of that was spent on the 2nd PP unit towards the end of the season. The majority of PP time he got was at the end of the power plays to defend against the opponent's surge at the end of the PK. When he genuinely gets on the 2nd PP unit he will actually have time to play in some offensive zone setups which 47 seconds a game wont buy you. Additionally the coaching staff will work him into more PP drills. I see upside there, and disagree that his PP worth has been disproven. The kid is very coachable!
-
i think he's already got the work ethic and the skating ability. he has also proven to be very coachable as evidenced by his great defensive positioning. with some work in the offensive zone and some help on the 2nd line, the boys should be able to bounce the first 15 goals off his shins before he figures out how to do it on his own. they just have to get him to stop curling up along the half boards and get in the play.

I was a little surprised to not see TJ Oshie on that list.
-
I would love to see Fils break out and I think he will, but remember the last guy they told to shoot more became the Logohunter. We haven't seen enough of his shot to really know what he can do.

ammu! saatana mulkku! [with color added] as my former Finn teammates used to say amongst other things

Sportsnet: Hudler awarded 2 year deal 5m total; Still KHL bound

As bad of a taste the whole KHL thing has left in my mouth, I would still prefer him over the dregs of the free agent market. -
It always seemed odd coming out of Paramount, CA. It was such a crappy rink they didn't even have any teams out of it for years. Awful neighborhood now too. I used to take power skating lessons there when I was little, and there was an old (maybe the original?) Zamboni sitting in the back.

I'm not disagreeing that we need to fill a loss of goals, but filling the icetime left open by the departure of those guys will makeup for it in itself. [somewhere in here I think there was an argument against Filpulla wherein we all conceded that more icetime=more scoring] Between them there is 46 minutes a game, including almost 9 minutes if power play, to be doled out. how much of that time do we really expect to be used by the new acquisition? Unfortunately [i hate him, he's old, lazy, sucks etc], Sykora may be the only name that has been bandied about that may be useful on the PP.

I dont think the team, as it is, could support a brawler. They're just not tough enough or big enough to deal with the side effects for 82 games. A brawler would fire up rest of the bigger tougher opponents. Our smaller, more demure guys would get hurt when he is in the box. If the Wings were a genuinely tough team, I would be for a brawler. I am more for a genuinely tougher Wings team. That having been said, I am happy with the winning philosphy and drafting that has served them well lately. When that stops working, I will welcome a new face to the team.
-
I like him, but I think you may be being a little generous about ol' Kirk. ehhhhh
-
Loyalty to your team includes seeing them through good and bad times. I can certainly see how people could be annoyed when the bandwagon 95'ers start to hop off.
-
I remember watching Joey Kocur roof that backhander in game 1 and thinking...if that is happening there is no way the Flyers could stop us!
-
I don't know...sometimes I just feel like his regular season desire and hustle doesn't match his talent.
-
Big Rig will run away with the best rookie title. Helm will exceed expectations, Leino will just meet expectations, and Abby will also meet relatively low expectations. Fils will be a breakout player and finally earn some cred. Z, D and Lids will have play great hockey again. Franzen will frustrate the hell out of us during the year with inconsistent play. ***edited to acknowledge the blindassguessedness of these predictions so as to not have them held against me in May

Mike Grier's agent says he's 'interested' in Red Wings
kook_10 replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
i would rather see Kenny roll the dice on a young guy they can actually make something out of - as opposed to buying a mediocre commodity player. -
thats a lot of dough! maybe thats why he wants to go to Russia - where his money is safe!
-
It doesnt piss me off at all. Its just another example of what a class act he is. It was never about him or about the points. For him to stick around just for 700 would run contrary to the biggest reason he was great, and that was his character.
-
simply put: he was and always will be an enemy.
-
we can send him to the Alexander Semin school of fighting.
