The Wings are apparently scouting Smid. Not sure he is top 2 material though. I do think he might be a good shut down guy but his offense numbers are awful.

I was thinking the same about Fil. Because he is a ufa and his deadline worth might be a bit less because of that , then does it make more sense to deal Franzen and a prospect or a pick for a sniper? I can't remember if Mule has a ntc?

Why I suggested Kronwall was IF the Wings looked like they would not make the playoffs come deadline day and a big return could be had for him. Maybe in a package with Mule? It's funny how some on here are screaming about a rebuild or a big trade but never want to give anything up in return.

Yes and maybe he looked a lot better while playing with Nick and with Stuart. It depends a lot on what can be got for him. I am not suggesting trading him for nothing. If it is a good time to rebuild then players of value that can help the future by being traded need to be shopped. Not sure we are there yet but its not looking good.

What defense are you talking about? I don't see much to brag about. I am talking about trading a player that might have very good value which we don't have a lot of.

I do agree with that. The Wings have also made trades at or near the deadline that have brought those Cup wins as well. Lets face it the D needs help. You can't expect to rebuild your defense after losing Rafalski, Stuart , and Lidstrom by drafting. They don't have a top 2 d pairing and that is a big problem.

Yeah it often makes me wonder if the players ever think of the fans hard earned dollars when they play with such little effort. We had thought of making the trip west to catch a game in either Calgary or Edmonton. To load up the family of 4 for a 1800 mile round trip plus hotels and tickets I would be out of pocket 2k when all is said and done. I would have been pissed if I would have wasted my money on that show last night!

Agreed 110%. I don't agree with what Babs puts out on the ice but Holland is to blame for the s***ty contracts and lack of talent. Holland was betting on the big fish last year Parise and Suter and missed all the horses that would have worked well. Then he panicked and signed scrubs for not one but two freeking years.

Monster was awful. The defense is the problem, they can't move the puck out of the zone clean......ever. passes into skates, passes to far in front or behind. Kronwall stinks and the rest are very very ugly to watch. There are so many small things wrong with this team that it's hard to know what needs to be fixed the most. Babcock and Holland need their heads examined for the contracts that they handed out. Abby, Colo, Sammy, Mule are all mistakes.

Yep that's why I said Perry hit him in the head. I never said I agreed or not just said that he will likely be suspended.

I think they will sneak in. I do think that Bert and Sammy are done for this year. If either do make it back it will be for the playoffs who wants guys that have been on the shelf that long to be on the ice in the post season? When Helm comes back next week either Andersson or Gus will be sent down because thats what Babcock does. He plays experience over talent at every opportunity. Proven with the 8-13-11 line. -
Perry hit him in the head. Intentional or not he was injured on the play and in the NHL you will be suspended for these types of hits. 1 game maybe 2 if Shanny is bitchy

Cleary and Abby both need to go. too slow and no skill. The Wings have way better options. Holland has some cuts to make and he needs to do it.

I am not a big Semin fan either but sometimes you have to take a chance. Signing Colo with his injury history was insane and bringing back Sammy was a pure panic move. -
I agree with what your saying. Babcock is to blame for the lines. I do think that the Wings feel that Nyquist is not NHL ready. Holland has not done anything lately to help this team. White is sitting in the press box, Sammy should have never been signed, picked Mule over Hossa. It's a what have you done for me lately job and Babcock and Holland haven't done much. If this team misses the playoffs then one of them should be axed. Even good coaches get stale.

I agree that Babcock needs to be thrown under the bus for using this line for so long when it is not working. Ultimately I still feel Holland has to take some of the blame for the team that he has put together. Fil is probably the only one that's hurt that is really a top six guy the rest are bottom six. Babcock could make better choices but this team is FULL of bottom six players and that is Kenny"s department.

If you think Howard will not get at least 4.5 your kidding yourself. He has saved the Wings on so many nights that its not funny. No he's not elite but he is above average. 3.5 would be an insult.

Gus and Fil would get a good top six winger and maybe a pick in return. You have to give up quality to get it back. -
So if Flip is worth 4.5-5M in your mind then what will Brunner get? Brunner has a lot more upside to his game. I am not sure that Flip is worth 4.5 to this team and can be replaced for less money with Andy, Tatar, and Gus.
