Iginla would be great. But if he chooses to leave Calgary (NTC) it will be too a cup contender. Sports Net West talks that he might go to the Pens. The Flames will want a boat load for him and at this point in his career I am not sure he would be worth it.

The point is some have been blaming the defense play on injuries. They are almost back to healthy and I am not seeing a lot of improvement.
-
lol no not that much but enough to know that its often overlooked by some that this is a big problem that effects the whole flow of the game for the Wings. I am just not convinced that "getting healthy" will make much difference at all.

I started watching about half way through but what I noticed, and that many have not commented on this year is how bad the Wings are at the break out. Most of the first passes are in the feet or miss altogether. I saw repeated turnovers made between their own blue line and the Red line. While bad penalties are a part of the game, passing IS the game. If a NHL team cannot figure out how to pass the puck they are in more trouble then a few bad calls. From Kronwall on down the defense was awful.

I am not sure I would want to see them give up a lot for Iggy. Have you watched him this year??? He is looking like he is done. Jay-Bo or even Cammalarie (spelling) might be better choices. The Jets are looking for picks maybe Wheeler or Ladd might be available

Babcock is fine. Holland needs to show us something very soon or maybe he can go.

Fil can be replaced. Not sure if he is worth what some think he is on here as a trade asset.

How much of the current trouble is attributable to injuries?
Red Crazy replied to Phil Lesh's topic in General
Injuries have little to do with this teams problems. Getting Mule and Helm back would help but not very much. This team needs a big shake up and when I say that I don't mean a rebuild I mean roster players changes. Jimmy,Z and Pavel are the only players safe to me. -
After losing three in a row its funny to see Ken Holland yapping in the press about all the injuries in the NHL and that it will be the healthy teams that make it this year. While I agree all of this is true I think he is already using his excuse card for the Wings s***ty performance this far. When you are up 2-0 and quit playing and lose the game it IS not because of who is out of your line up. If Ken Holland thinks the return of Smith, Bert, Helm and Colo will somehow make this team a cup contender he should be checked for a pulse. Is it time to panic? no. The time to panic was last summer when Ken Holland replaced the best d-man to ever play the game with Colo and then picked up Sammy instead of a sniper. Holland will not make any moves and will resign Cleary for 2 more years. Count on it.

Healthy starters the problem, Not young replacements
Red Crazy replied to b.shanafan14's topic in General
Pay Jimmy what he's worth. Flip to me is a player that I would deal in a package to get a d-man or a sniper if we are in the hunt at this years deadline. He is not a bad two way player but he will not shoot the puck. He might be the only guy that would bring us value in a trade and he is replaceable by Nyquist for less money. -
I think Huskins should be paired with Kronner. Kronner has played at his best when paired with a stay at home d-man (Stuart) This allows Kronner to jump up into the play and make some big hits. Kronwall looks lost without Stuart and Huskins is probably as close to his style as well have so pair them up. White does not seem to have chemistry with anyone at this point. The thought of Colo and him paired together sends chills up my spine. I have my doubts that Babs will scratch him though.

Agree. I think Kenny Holland needs to make some moves when we get healthy and make some room for these young guys on the roster. I am very impressed with Tatar. -
GDT 2/15 GDT : Anaheim Ducks 5 at Red Wings 2
Red Crazy replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Not much talk on here about Fil. With the way Tatar has been playing maybe Fil could be shopped? Its clear that the Wings need some energy injected into this line up every night. Would Fil and Gus be enough to get us a real sniper or a top d-man? Remembering you have to give to get -
Get well Bert! As much as I am concerned for him I am even more so for Helm. Bert has had a great career Helm is at the start of his. Get well both of you!
-
Whitney is being scratched on a team that has d problems and we want him here? Don't think so. Unless we could send Colo back their way.
-
Like him or hate him the Wings needed a player like him on this team. If he chips in a few points, keeps the flies off, and rattles the teeth of some d-men on the fore check then what more do you want.
-
I think Babcock is the right guy going forward. Yes I too have been not happy at some of his lines but for the most part he has done a good job this year with what Holland and injuries have gave him. Holland on the other hand I am not so sure anymore. What's he been doing lately?
-
Kronwall should be the one that is taken to task for his crappy play. He stood and watched two goals go in and cost his team the game. Watch the replay of the shorthanded goal and the last one in ot both times he didn't pick up his man he just stood there. Don't even get me started about him moving the puck out of his zone on the power play. He passes into traffic or into skates. He needs a wake up call because he is not looking like a top d-man this year.
-
Hey Man I am with ya on that one! If we could get tickets! lol
-
LOL I had forgot about Williams! I could see Sammy on a one year deal if Holland was still unsure on the development of Gus and Tatar but for 2 years?
-
That is true we don't know what Holland is thinking but this is a topic about bad moves. Bringing Sammy back appears to be just that. I hope I am wrong.
-
Franzen over Hossa is probably one that Holland would like back. Bringing Sammy back and Coliacovo in does not make any sense to me. Coliacovo is made of glass and is not that great of a D- man to take the chance on. I think he was brought in because Holland shot for the moon on Suter and when he missed there was nobody else left. Sammy on the other hand must be a golfing buddy of Kennys because I can't see any other reason to bring him back. Letting Stevie go to TB was a huge mistake. Holland has done nothing since Yzerman left anyways.
-
Should be a good one. Wings will have to be a lot faster then usual.
-
I will give you that. Z does have far more class then both Backes and Mule. The point being made was if it had been any of the Wing's players being speared comments would be much different. Lets face it the hit from behind was not that bad either. Both Franzen and Parron looked like idiots.
-
Franzen should have "taken a number" and got him back at another time. Instead he chose to spear him in the nuts which is a gutless play. If Backass would have done this to Z comments would be a lot different on here.
