I have thought that Kronwall has been very shaky at times this year. He makes a lot of poor choices when he has the puck. However I think Ericsson has been awful. I wonder if the Oilers would take him and a pick for Petry? likely wishful thinking.

Injured MLive : Howard out at least 2-4 weeks with "slight groin tear"
Red Crazy replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I absolutely agree 100%. This is the time when we find out what kind of team we have. The leaders of this team have to find another level and get Mrazek some goals and the D has to play much better in front of him. -
I wish Bertuzzi the best. I don`t think he will get another shot in the league though. The Wings could stand to have a player like him on the roster these days. A player that is tough enough to stand up for a teammate and with the hands to score a few. Franzen could be this player if he wasn`t a *****
-
Does this not seem like a bit much for Petry? I mean there HAS to be better D men available at the deadline.
-
I wouldn`t mind Thorburn if we couldnt get a pick.`Nice to have a toughness option

The point I was trying to make was yes they usually jump in so why didn`t they when Smith had a jersey over his face and he could have been seriously hurt as a result? I think I can answer that after watching the replay a few more times. I believe the refs let Smith take a bit of medicine because of the slash he fed Panik which started the fight.
-
Thats why I was mad too. Usually the refs jump in way to early and they stood there and watched Smitty take a few with his head covered. The Wings have never stood up for each other in a long time. Dont be surprised by this one. Franzen running around being a ****** probably ends up in liberties being taken out on his teammates.

I got the chance to both meet him and watch him very close in warm ups when they were in Winnipeg. I noticed right away how stiff he walks and skates. He is not even close to 100% healthy in my mind.

Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?
Red Crazy replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
But maybe this is the time to move him for a player that contributes every game or a top 4 d man? The best way of getting value for a player is when they are playing well. -
Hall should walk into Mac T's office this afternoon and demand a trade. It might be the best thing that happened to the Oilers in a long time. Would force them to act instead of pointing fingers at whos to blame. Sad times for Oilers fans.

What a legend! Yes its a tough time in the hockey world lately. I only hope that my kids will have these types of players for role models or heros. Not dirt bags like Kane doing push ups with stacks of cash on his back..........
-
Yeesh then that does pose a problem. If he moves down because somebody else is brought in then who goes? Maybe at this point it would be interesting to try some different pairings. Like Smith or DK with Kronner I not a KFQ fan either. He has not been as bad as some think. I think E is a bigger issue at this point.
-
This team will need better D to make a deep playoff push. This team has needed a top 2 dman since Raffi retired and still needs one. Big E is not good enough but would still have value in a trade.

After watching the game in Winnipeg and going down to ice level for warm ups. I think Z is not 100% he seems very stiff and slow when forced to chase the puck. Now maybe he was just off that night but I do think if Pavel was playing we might see Z given a night or two off. My biggest concern about this team is that Z and Pavel can be healthy. If the Wings can keep the pace that they are on then leave the team as is till the trade deadline. Might be good options available then -
I thought I would share this with you fellow Wings fans. My family lives in Manitoba and I have been a Wing fan since the mid 80`s so I guess my passion for the team has been passed on to first my wife and now our two boys age 6 and 8. Getting tickets in Winnipeg is usually next to impossible and the thought of getting 4 together is just a dream unless you wanted to pay 2-300 on stubhub. But by luck I was able to get 4 tickets from a season ticket holder that couldn`t attend so we were all set!!! We are about 2.5 hours drive to Winnipeg so we booked a hotel next to the arena. It turned out that the Wings were staying at the same hotel! We met Bill Roose when we were checking in and he said to hang out in the lobby because the players will be coming down soon to get onto a bus for the arena. We got to meet most of the players and my boys were lucky enough to get 10-12 autographs each! We saw all the Detroit t.v guys etc. It was unbelievable!!! The players were so nice to their fans and taking pictures with the boys. When we got over to the arena we asked to go down to ice level to watch warm ups. Many of the players tapped on the glass and smiled to the boys. Tatar even tossed a puck over the glass to them! It was a great game to watch! Anyways I wanted to share this story for those interested. The Red Wings are a class act all the way! From their security guys right to the players! Thank you Red Wings for making a dream come true for our family. We will remember the day forever.

10/3 Preseason Game: Detroit Red Wings vs Toronto Maple Leafs
Red Crazy replied to drumnj's topic in General
I had to shut off the game last night. It doesn't happen often that I do but last night it was terrible. Detroit's forwards are not good enough. Glendening, Abby, Miller, Andersson, Cleary, Sheahan, and even Helm are more or less the same player. Yes some are faster and some are slower but goal production wise they are meh at best. I do understand that it does take a few plugs to fill out a line up but 7???? Ken Holland needs to land a goal scoring winger more then a D man. Vent over -
I like Alfie but this team as it stands today is a fringe playoff team and we might as well play the young guys and give them a look at this point.
-
Jurco and Kindl for Green and a late pick. Im not a Green fan but he might be the best available.

signed Quincey re-signed by DET. 2 yr s $4.25 mill AAV
Red Crazy replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
Ken Hollands actions lately prove to me that he is/was not the great NHL GM that everyone said he was. He must have been just the face in front of the real brains that have now all left. Nill, Bowman, and Yzerman. The Quincey signing will go down as one of his worst deals. Better to have done nothing then this. To be rejected by most UFA's is a big sign that the Wings are in big trouble. We are in for a long year(s) ahead -
This better mean Ken Holland loses his job
-
I think TB and Stevie might be the team to watch this off season. He seems to be making some moves that might result in a big signing. The Red Wings need more then just a top 4 d man to be considered real contenders. Does this make KH's that much harder? I believe it does. We are not the sign with us and we will win you the cup team anymore. KH will have to pay full value or above value to land the big free agents he used to get for cents on the dollar. It will be interesting
-
go after both and put smith lashof and kindl on the market. Plenty of youth coming up that will replace all three in time.
-
The signing of Tootoo and the result of buying him out is just a further indication that Babcock and Holland do not agree on the direction of the team. I would be really surprised at this point if Babcock resigns as coach after his contract expires this year unless Holland gets off his ass and makes this team a winner once again.
-
Sign both Morris and Boyle. Let Q, Smith, Kindl and Lashoff walk or trade them for picks at the draft. Kronwall-E, Boyle-Dek, Morris-Kids.
-
Tootoo was supposed to be our gritty forward that no team likes to play against but Babcock didn`t use him. We need to add a lot more size and snarl on the D. The Wings are way too easy to play against and it starts in our end. We need some Chelios, Stuart, Macoun types.
