What did we get for Leino again?
-
I really hope that Holland has a big move up his sleeve. If not this will be one very busy year for Jimmy Howard. The Ericsson signing was terrible and the Commodore one was worse. Where are you Kenny we need a home run big time out of you.

Bert for the same pay I think can stay. As far as Eaves and Miller I do like them but they can be replaced for some size. I would like to see Lilja, Meech, and Lebda all walk. When Lidstrom retires this team is going to have a huge whole to fill and some think his cap space should be used on forwards. I say we need to spend that money on a top 2 defence man. Rafalski is getting up there and I don't see Kronwall or Stuart being in the top two on this team. Ericsson has shown that he might not even be top six, and as far as his " mean streak" I have watched him slap Perry a few times but that is it. I am sorry but he is big, slow, and not very good at defence, so he can go as well. If Lidstrom takes a pay cut or retires use his money for a d-man. Who, all depends on how much money you have to spend. Ian White would be nice?

Mike Babcock is a great coach and he has the hardware to prove it. But in this series he is being outcoached by Todd McLellan. It happens to the best of them so get used to it. Babcock is the type to beat a dead horse all day ( never change it up ) and he has done pretty well doing this but it is going to bite him big this time.
-
The fact is that Babcock needs to realize that Ericsson is not the second coming of Lidstrom. Ericsson is making typical rookie mistakes. We need to remember that he WAS a forward and usually he has trouble knowing when is the right time to pinch up. I am not a fan of his and I do wish that he was not on the Wings because I think that he is just a big shell with no heart. But he is on the team and that is a fact so I blame Babcock for using him in situations that he shouldn't be in.

Two and a half Men. Due to the beards.

Did the Wings make a mistake by turning Ericsson into a defenceman? I know he is a rookie and that he may have some future upside but he has not made any improvements this year at all. He seems lost playing defence and is often caught out of position ( third and fourth goals tonight). I think that he could have used another year in Grand Rapids. Thoughts?

I know the numbers and as I said he HAS had some moments. But Rafalski plays with Lidstrom and he is also on the number one powerplay. Stuart plays with who is left over and is always on the ice when it comes time to kill penalties. Lets face it they all need to be much better.

Brad Stuart has been one of our best d-men this year. Granted he has had some moments but he has been stuck with whoever was healthy for a partner and that is not easy. I will take 4.5 for him over 6 for Rafi anyday of the week thanks.

You are spot on with this. Yes they have had injuries but they look like they are very disinterested this whole season long. This team needs a big wake up now whether it is a big trade a coaching change or just benching some players. They need to start playing playoff hockey Feb.1 or there may not be this year.

He got off pretty easy I say. Considering he is a repeat I thought that he would get atleast one year off. I have often thought that some of these suspensions should include some community service as well. It just might deflate some of these kids massive heads a bit. Say the rest of the season and playoffs plus 500 hrs of service to be completed before he comes back? Might be just me but I hate this kind of s*** in hockey.

I am not a big Mike Green fan but you have to admit that +21 and 50 points is impressive. Makes me wonder if he should have been on Team Canada. His defensive play seems to be really improved. Anyone else think he has a shot to win the Norris?
-
Mr. Babcock, Please do the following things- 1. Tell Ericsson to never ever pinch when he is playing with Lebduh 2. Hit Bert with goalie stick everytime he takes a penalty 3. Tell trainer to sow Ozzies pads together This should eliminate 3 goals/game Thank you,' ME

If Homer dosen't retire he will get a one year extension at probabley 2m. Holland will not go longer then 1 maybe 2 years at best with Homer due to his age ( Contracts have to be payed out if they are signed after the player turns 35 even if they retire) therefor his caphit will be pretty much what he signs for. Those who think that he will sign for 1m are dreaming. Homer knows what he is worth and so does Holland. If Lidstrom dosen't retire I can see him taking a bit of a paycut. However there hasen't been any talks about an extension for him so I am guessing that retirement might be a strong possibility. Just my thoughts.

This is a great example of why Phaneuf is not on Team Canada. ( thank god ) He has no respect for other players and is a total asshat. I only hope that they throw the book at old Slopey seconds!

I just wanted to wish everyone here at LGW a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I hope that you and yours have a safe and happy holiday! CHEERS!

Report: Jeff Carter has affair w/ Scott Hartnell's wife
Red Crazy replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
I am going with Chris Pronger! ( his wife will demand a trade yet again ) -
1. To make the playoffs 2. To kick Chicagos ass in the first round 3. Sign Kovy in the off season I would settle for two of the three lol

Ozzie didn't play well but I think this loss is the teams. No goal on a 4min power play? Ericsson needs to learn when to pinch ( costs us two goals ) the second being very bad as we got caught on a line change. This team looks to me like it needs some heart. Another point wasted that may be needed later.
-
I for one think that Chelios should have a jersey retired at some point and in some rink but I am not sure if it should be in Detroit's. Maybe Chicago? I do think that his 24 should not be worn yet though.... It is just too soon. It would be like someone wearing Shanny's 14 the year after he left. It just dosen't seem right.
-
For what it is worth. I am reading Walter Gretzkys book right now and he touchs on this trade and he wanted Wayne to go to Detroit because it was close to home. He does not say if this trade was close but knowing how tight he and his father are I bet it was.

Will You Be Surprised if the Wings dont make the Playoffs?
Red Crazy replied to RyanK's topic in General
Agreed. But I think that any stumble from Ozzie this season could be very costly this year. Remember, Conklin was good for 25 wins last year. -
Heatley traded to Sharks for Michalek, Cheecho, 2nd Round Pick
Red Crazy replied to HELLDOGSbmx's topic in General
I think Ottawa did very well with this trade whean you consider that Heatley requested the trade and that always hurts the value of the player. If Thornton and Heatley can't find chemistry this may be a real bad move for the Sharks. Big Time. -
Not Sure what to think about the Williams signing. I was never a big fan of his when he was with the Wings the first time. If they were going down memory lane I was hoping for Bert but I guess we have to trust Kenny. I am still concerned about the Ozzie/Howard combo. If Ozzie was to go down with an injury or play like he did at times last year can Howard win us a few???????? If Lilja is put on the LTIR I would hope they save some cap space for later in the season.

I would take Cleary, Doan, and Smyth any day of the week over Spezza. Those three play with heart and you need alot of it to win a cup or a medal.
