Way to rally the team Sidney! You looked like an idiot! Couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if McLean had jumped him that way?
-
4 teams represented out of 30? and nobody off the top three teams? Does this not scream bulls***?

I agree with you that Kronwall is not playing well this year. I think that Babs needs to sit him out for a game or two just to get some fire back into him. He is sitting in second as far as ice time goes at 23:21 and he is rated at -4. Not what you want to see out of a top 4 D which plays on the power play. His hitting also seems to be not what it should be. Trade Stuart????? You have to be kidding me. He is leading the team in hits(100) Lilja is second with 65. He was brought in to be a strong defensivley and I think that he has shown that. Yes he is sitting at 0 +/- but I think it will turn around as we move on. I wonder at times if Kronwall and Stuart should play more together ( PP and PK ) to build more chemistry. Putting Stuart on the PP would allow Kronner to jump into the play more insted of covering Sammys butt.( just my opinion)

I have been wondering the same thing. If the visor is the issue for taking off your helmet then what about a removeable visor? Seems too easy and it may save a life or two. I wonder just how many careers could be saved if the refs stopped the fight if a helmet came off? Rip Don Sanderson.

I agree. The league needs to act but I will be very surprised if it will. Head shots and hits from behind need to be taken out of the game at every level. I would like to see automatic suspensions for both in the NHL Min. 1g Max.15 depending on the hit.
-
Hit from behind? Yes. He needs to let up, and he does not. Should he get a game or two????Yes will he????? I doubt it.

I would like to see a change on his line, I would like to see Franzen and Homer switch for a game or two and see what happens.

It is hard to imagine what the team will look like next year when you take into consideration that the cap will not change much. Have the GM's been handing out contracts that in some cases are not cap smart? Yes. I think that some Gms have been taking it for granted that the cap will continue to go up and some players are being over paid. The reality is that if the cap is going to be the same or close for the next few years or longer ( depending on the economy) the next round of contracts will be much different then in the past. For example Zetterburg may have to take less money then he would have got last year simply because there will be less money to spend in the next few years. Is this fair?????? Hard to say but it is the reality of a salery cap league. I am guessing that Mr. Holland will put out the best team he can for the money.
-
They would have to put Ozzie on the Long term IR wouldn't they to have cap room to bring up Howard or Larssen?
-
I want to start off by saying that I love having Hossa be a Red Wing and this is only a what if post! If the whole goaltending issue dosen't work itself out by Feb. Ken Holland will be forced into making a change. With the Wings just about maxed at the salary cap it in a sence handcuffs Holland, he can't bring up players(without risking losing the ones going down) and he can't add one. My question is will Hossa's contract even at a bargin turn out to be very costly in the end? The 7.45M would allow the Wings to get a top 5 goaltender and should still allow for more wiggle room then we have now. If Holland had to go after a goalie how many contracts would he have to move to do it at there current value? Lots. Hank, Sammy, and Mule will be looking for more money at the end of this year. What if the cap stays the same? or goes down? Hossa, if he does turn out to be a rental player will be costly if roster changes are needed. Lets all hope things sort themselves out.

I am not doubting you. Please share with us how you would get a top notch goalie and what you would give up to do it.

Forsberg was an awesome player, and it does suck when an injury ends a great career but I think enough is enough. Maybe the Nucks will take him if they don't win the Sundin lottery!

Is it really a time for changing goalies and 4th liners?
Red Crazy replied to Wingsallwin's topic in General
This just may be the answer! It works with all other levels of hockey so why not? Although it may be hard to find enough trying forwards to complete 2 lines! lol -
This is by far the best comment on here. The key is making this happen! I do however think that Ozzie needs some time off to get his head straight. He looked rattled on every shot and I think that the whole team feels it.
-
Ozzie has been struggling all year and tonight it looks like it is only getting worse. We can't blame ozzie for all the problems but he needs to get his s*** together. I say they play Conks for 10 games and see what happens. Conks has not been hot either but he looks like his confidence is in tact not like Ozzie's

Wings got the talent, but what about the coaching?
Red Crazy replied to FourtyThirteen's topic in General
Mike Babcock is a great coach. This lazy play is not his doing. Why are people dumping on Cleary??? He is one of a few players that has any jump in the last few games. -
I agree. Nick was really off tonight, he has not been playing up to his level all year. Could Nick's age and a long playoff run be catching up with him???? Or is this just a "Hangover" and their record is overblown with one goal wins??? It will be interesting what Coach Babcock can do to bring them out of this funk!
-
Better game tonight! I thought the whole team played a good game. Nice to see Ozzie have only 1 against. Good way to start off the month! Keep it going Boys!
-
This is way too FUNNY! You have my vote.

Crosby and Malkin seem to get an assist just for being on the ice at times. So does it matter if they are second assists or not???? I have to admit that I have never been a Sammy fan but his play this year seems to have improved a great deal and on certain nights has been our best player.
-
I choose Hudler because he has been playing very good this year so far. Flip is an awesome player but he just can't seem to crack the top six on the Wings this year which makes his contract expensive....... Sammy has picked up his game but I find him very hard to watch at times.
-
I think that we all agree that Ozzie has not been playing up to his usual standerd this season so far. He needs to be much better and I am guessing that he knows this. Some of the best goalies in the league have not enjoyed the stats that they have in the past, I think that it is way to early in the season to throw Ozzie under the bus. After all the coaching staff would be addressing this if indeed they thought it was a problem. We all need to remember that if you get two points at the end of the game does it matter what happened in it?????? Just ask a team that misses the playoffs by one single point.
-
I thought that Oz played good tonight compared to his last few starts. The first goal was on a bad give away by Huds, the second on a deflection with Mule in front of him, and the third was on the PP 4on3. However 5 points out of six is very good but yet another loss to a strong team is what concerns me. I am so looking forward to the Boston game coming up to see how we match up against one of the best in the East this year.

I have to admit I was never really a fan of Hossa till this year. But all I can say is WOW! He is alot faster and much better in our zone then I ever thought that he would be. He seems to be becoming a fan favorite pretty quickly is there a chance of re-signing him long term? Is he happy so far in Detroit?
-
This is so true. when faced against a playoff team we have been beat 0-3. The teams we have been beating by a goal or two are the ones we should be killing. As Detroit fans we have come to trust that our defence will be awesome night in and night out. So far this year they have been just average so we become concerned.
