I think Weekes hits the nail on the head. Detroit has never replaced Lidstrom or Rafalski. Both were great puck movers and allowed for a better transition when we are getting now. Count how many blown break outs the Wings have in a game. To answer the OP's question, I think its offense but it starts with the defensemen.

I don't think there is anything wrong with his system, its his line combo's that are out of whack. Saying that he wants Cleary playing with Pav to get him going is stupid. Cleary is DONE and it is only Babs that can't see this. Tatar is his new whipping boy, and he busts his ass every night and is doing very well with the ice time he is given and with the slugs he sometimes is stuck playing with. Tatar and Gus should be mad as hell with the way Babcock has treated them both. If Babcock would have wanted Gus up from the start of the year Kenny would have found a way.

I couldn't agree more with this. The Wings got pushed around and quit playing the game. Neil ran around all night intimidating the wings then pursued one of our young D into a fight he didn't want to be in. Z was roughed up and Pavel was beat down all night. Not one of the Red Wings stood up or helped out their teammates. Ericsson, Quincey, Abby where were you? If Abby won't help out and push back in a game like that he can be waived as well. Holland and co have a week to figure out what to do before our next meeting with them. and don't think every team in the league saw how the Wings folded last night as well

I don't think its Dan Cleary him self that I hate, its the way Babcock always finds a way to keep him in the line up even when he is awful. Bert, Pavel, Tatar is a great line. Bert Pavel, Cleary is not. If Babcock can't see that then maybe he is the problem.

You do realize that as fans we have the right to criticize both Babcock and Holland`s work. It doesnt mean no disrespect to them. It means that as fans we are engaged in what is going on. Chances are that Ken Holland would love to have a few take backs as far as bad contracts he has handed out. Just remember that if our top prospects would have been playing on the Red Wings fighting for the Stanley Cup they wouldnt have won the Calder. I would rather the Stanley just sayin

Why do you think Pav and Z are doing so well this year? Bert has been making room for them and drawing traffic to the front of the net. I know people have a hard time giving Bert credit on here but he is playing really well. If you want to inject some youth and get rid of the old vets start with ones that are not hurting this team and that are doing their job. Cleary, Mule, and Sammy

I was hoping that Eaves would have got taken. Starting to show how little some of our players are worth in this salary rollback market we are in. Ken Holland will have to do a much better job when passing out contracts to bottom 6 players that can easily be replaced for nothing. ei Cleary

Did you not hear/read him say "Im Dan Cleary's biggest fan"? That tells me a lot and i'm sure it says volumes to our young guys. I would not be surprised if Gus and Tatar asked to be traded.

The only one not being resigned on your list will be Sammy. Cleary will get a contract that will see him retire as a Wing. Bert as well.

georgemalik3m Samuelsson's no-trade clause = he can pick somewhere between 8-12 teams he doesn't want to be traded to. It is NOT a no-movement clause. Rep If this is the case why is he not on the trade block? I know takers would be hard to find but I have never read that he has been asked for a list.

Sounds like Cleary is in for Tatar against Washington. I am not very happy with Babcock and Holland these days. Good luck to Patty! I hope he gets claimed and lights it up

I agree but this is not Lashoff's fault. The Wings keep filling holes with guy's that are not meant for those spots. Like using Helm as a second line center! Ken Holland has us in a really bad position where we have zero tradable assets to fix what needs fixing. We have way to many bottom six guys that are not worth a cent on the market. Sammy, Cleary, Miller, Abby, Tootoo, Eaves, Anderson, to name a few. If Pav, Z or Dek goes down long term we could easily miss the playoffs. sad.

He hasn't skated since his last game. Does this not tell you that he is not going to play in the WC? I would love to see him play but its not going to happen.

This team is in Big trouble. Outside of Alfie, Pav, Z, Dek, Jimmy, and Bert. this team has been awful. The Defense is the main reason that Jimmy's stats are in the tank. We have a team that will get beat most nights. Edmonton is the last game that they dominated other then that they have been lucky to even get any points. Babcock clearly has no idea what to do next. Holland you suck

Holland is a fine GM but he is loyal to a fault. Cleary should NOT have been brought back because of our roster situation. Sammy was/is a mistake. The only thing that is saving Holland right now is injuries. Once everyone is healthy decisions have to be made

I think a lot of the problem is not on Babcock. Kenny Holland is to blame for a lot of it. Bringing Sammy back, Cleary back, Mules extention over Hossa, bringing Quincey back. and his inability to clear roster spots so Gus and Tatar can crack the lineup on a nightly basis is really hurting this team. Right now the Weiss signing is looking like another big mistake as well. This team is in bad need of a big trade. Holland has made some good moves but some awful ones too.
