My solution = Get rid of the All Star Game. As stated in some other topics, All Star games are usless. Players dont like them, even if they "say" they do, Coaches/Gm's/Owners usually don't want to send their players there, and all-in-all, the whole weekend is terruibly planned. The skills competition has lost its flair, and the actual game might be the worst hockey ever. They might as well just vote in forwards because the defensman are useless. My solution, make the Winter Classic the midseason game. Just look at the rating the Winter Classic drew this year. Having this be a yearly thing where cities and teams bid for a chance to host it would be fantastic. The money that the NHL has invested in Ice making technology has made it possible to make an ice rink pretty much anywhere. So why no make this the annual "Midseason Classic". Since the early 1990's when Gretzky, Lemieux and Yzerman dawned the Cambell conference jerseys, the all star game has gone downhill. Something changes every year because they just cant find what works. Well Gary, look at the writing on the wall, THE ALL STAR GAME SUCKS. Take the one thing you've done good for this league (Winter Classic) and make it the all star game. No East vs. West, no North America vs. Europe, just two NHL teams playing a meaningful game in a setting that all of America will watch. Any thoughts?

Should the NHL All Star game return to NA vs World format?
Zetterbeard40 replied to BeeRYCE's topic in General
I say you scrap the all star game totally, and make the winter classic the Game in the middle of the schedule. This will eliminate the uslessness of the game itself, market the game, and keep players and fans from being pissed off because they dont want to go to the All Star game. All Star games in almost every sport are past their time. No players want to go, and no owners/gm's want to send their players. Change the name of the all star game to "The Midseason Classic", pick two teams each year. Have a bidding process just like the allstar game. Done and done. With the new technology in ice making, the NHL can built an outdoor rink pretty much anywhere. I say do it -
It is considered bad luck to do this in the regular season. Now if you're going to do it in the playoffs this is how it should be done. My brother and I both did it in kast years playoffs a couple times. The rule at the Joe is that they have to kick you out, but they dont, depending on what section you throw it from. The corner to the right of where karen Newman sings is a good spot....the Other end of the ice isnt a good idea because most of the wings alumni and what not have seats in these areas and security is very strict. We just put the octopi in a large freezer ziplock bag and stuffed it in our pockets while coming into the Joe. They dont even say anything if you have it. My brother got searched, took out the opctopus and they let him through anyways. You cannot throw it during play, or they will throw you out. The best bet is to chat it up with one of the ushers, get to know them, and then pick your time of glory. Not going to lie, its pretty fun. I threw mine right after the big scrum in game 2 of the Cup finals last year and it was AWESOME

My plan of action would be to once again make the goalies smaller. With the technology in equipment these days, there is no doubt in my mind that the goalies could once again be made smaller. Im not just talking about smaller Pads, but chest protectors, blockers, and gloves. The size of the goalies mid section makes the goalies far too big in my mind. It is apparant that nobody really wants a new net or a different or bigger net. I think the net size is perfect and should not be changed. The goalies equipment to me is far too big and is crafted to not allow any rebounds. By designing new mandatory equipment designs, the NHL could effectively increase scoring, and not change the traditional rules and regulations of the game. Something needs to be done because Im sick of seeing so many powerplays.

Sorry I missed a couple of things on your post. As for the memory issue, you can use a USB jump drive to put the music onto your xbox, but after that it will take up memory on your hard drive. As to how much memory, I have no idea, I guess it would depend on how big the songs are, but it shouldnt be an issue. And when NHL 10 comes out, as long as they still have the custom audio feature, , you can still use it, because the music/playlists are coming from your xbox, not the NHL 09 game.
-
The feature works like this, no matter what mode of play you are playiing in. Once you rip/download the music to your xbox, you must create a playlist with certain songs. A good idea is to make a separate playlist for each song to be sure that your song is played for the desired situation. Then once these playlists have been created, you can now access the Custom Audio feature via the Media Hub in the main menu (You cant access it unless you have playlists created on your xbox). From there its pretty simple. You just have to select the team you wish to create custom audio for, or all teams, or all league etc. Thats pretty much it

Yeah Thats one thing I dont know how to do is cut the songs to fit the certain siutation. I you have any info on how to do that it would be greatly appreciated

NO No, no worries, Yzersukstromberg is my brother and I just noticed he posted so I was chirping him. As far as Im concerned, Im voting Lidstrom for Governor.
-
Hey Yzersukstromberg, get a grip we know you're not a real wings fan, its not like you have a tattoo or anything.

Hey buddy, I dont know if your a tigers fan as well, but I am also a history student at the University of Windsor and have a pretty good idea for you. Last year we had to do a project/presentation on any topic in history we want, and being a natural sports fan, I chose to do Tiger Stadiums placde in Detroits history. You would be surprised at how much info you can find and how easy the research is. It is especially intriguing now that it has been ripped down and we see the end of an era. Just a thought....post if you need some more info, I should have a bibliography with all of my books i used and stuff.

How much trouble are the Coyotes in?
Zetterbeard40 replied to NorthDakotaWingsFan's topic in General
Good point, I guess my math was a little off. I must have just been a little excited thinking something like this could ever happen. I wouldnt look at expanding the league simply because I dont think the talent pool is deep enough. There are too many players in the league right now who simply dont belong. This is why I would get rid of Atlanta, Phoenix, and move Florida out of Florida leaving only Tampa in that State. This would allow the league to open a merket in a better suited city than these cities already mentioned. The State of Florida does not have a big enough fan base to support two teams (maybe because its a tourist/old age destination). I wish something like this could actually happen, but with the direction the league is taking right now it just doesnt seem possible. We can only hope I guess -
We have 4 seats in section 217B. Most games are accounted for, but Ive also gotten tickets for some games I didnt have right at the Box office. I dont know how old you are, but if you're a student and dont mind sitting by yourself its a great deal. On gamedays you can go to the box office and get 48 dollar tickets for 15 dollars. Cant beat it really. The box office guy didnt even check my student card and also mentioned that the sale will be going on until they start to sell out games. They also have the family packs, which are 2 tickets for 44 dollars. This deal includes a pop and hot dog for each ticket bought. If those dont help, just give the box office a call on gamedays, and ask if they have the 25 dollar tickets. The thing is, most people dont know but the wings arent officially selling out anygames, so you could pretty much walk up to the box office at 7pm and get a ticket.

Just an idea. They should remove both Phoenix and Atlanta from the league. I know that the Nhl wants to expand to the American market, but its obviously not working. Atlanta is a transient city and Phoenix is not a hockey market, bottom line. By removing these teams that would make the league 28 teams. I say you remove the whole divisional system and make it two 14 team conferences. Each team plays everyone in their conference 4 times and each team in the opposite conference 2 times. This would make the season 78 games long instead of 82, allowing for the season to end a week or two earlier, as we all know how stupid it is that the season goes into June. My theory behind this is this. I know everyone is beginning to like some of the division rivalries, which the NHL is pushing, but there are too many division with unintriguing games, example, Toronto VS. Florida. Nobody cares. people can watch 5 of the 6 divisional games at home instead of going to the games. By making the amount of games even for each team in each conference and cross conference games, the league with not have any growning about teams not getting the high profile teams into town as much as other organizations. Moving forward, eliminating the divisions would mean seeding wopuld be different. They could seed the teams 1-8 in each conference. Since each team plays everybody the same amount of times, you dont get complaining that certain divisions are weaker than others. It just makes too much sense. -
Im sick of hearing we need an enforcer. We outhit every team we play. Does anyone ver notice that when someone hits or takes a shot at one of a teams "stars", the enforcer fights the other teams enforcer. Well that doesnt make much sense to me. It just puts two guys in the box that otherwise wouldnt have gotten any ice time anyways. McCarty and/or Downey are great right where they are, in the NHL. They act as more of a liability than a commodity, when playing for the wings. I would love to not hear anything more about an inforcer, its not and shouldnt happen.

Fillpula is the most overpaid Red Wings. Ive been to all but 3 home games this year and all he does is skate into the zone and either give the puck away or get taken off the puck. He just might be the weakest Red Wings we have on the puck. He can't finish, or get into the middle of the ice. As much as I love Holland, this might be one of his worst signings. Franzen is 5x's the player Filppula is. He's bigger, stronger on the puck, better in the corners, and obviously has way more scoring touch than Filppula. It's not that I dont like Filpps, I just dont think he's worth 3 million/year. Idf we had to lose him or use him as trade bait or a way to open up cap space for guys like Helm, Eriksson or Leino, then I would be all for it.
-
Yeah I bought the family pack for a couple of games as well. They do charge you with a $5 handling fee making the total around $50. All in all its a good deal. The student rush tickets are also a great deal. I went, and although I am a student, I didnt even have to show a student card and they also gave me a 48 dollar ticket for 15 dollars. They are only single seats, which doesnt bother me.

Zetterberg does not deserve any more money than Datsyuk Homer needs to stop putting highlights in his hair at his age Maltby and Draper are toast Chelios should step down to a coaching role to free up cap space Lebda = Garbage (you're not a forward Brett) Kopecky needs to go Ilitch needs to do soemthing about the washroom situation in the Joe Nick Lidstrom is the BEST Player in the league Crosby is the worst leader in the league Yzerman is God

Red Wings place forward Darren McCarty on waivers
Zetterbeard40 replied to The Mule's topic in General
Thank God he's been put on waivers. Say all you want about needing a fighter, but McCarty has done nothing for us this year other than his measly one goal. He gets in usless fights which prove nothing. Just like Downie, the coaches must tell them to stay away from the puck at all costs, because everytime they do it seems they turn the puck over or fail to clear the zone. I'm glad he's going on waivers, maybe now we'll have room for a player worth keeping.
