Excited to see Abs back in. Can't wait to see how he brings it. He has just one job (in my mind) - HIT HIT HIT. If he gets to shoot the puck, all the better, but his main job is to get the energy up and hit. Hit but keep it clean, and we'll take over this series.

San Jose... Definitely, Pittsburgh... maybe, NJ... I doubt they're too calm. For those three however, they have lost their home-ice advantage. We never had it, so no panic necessary, but when 3 PPGA are scored... there's reason to lose your cool. That's my peeve on the night, but I do feel we still can win this series. Also a little nerveracking is the "what-if" of losing game 2. Howard has come back from rough starts real well all year, but if he loses his first 2 of the playoffs, his confidence won't be where it was in the season. If anything, the Wings have to win it for him.

Filpulla was in the area... but his stick is not 10 ft long... I think Lidstrom sounds pissed right now, I'm very curious to see what happens in Game 2. If Lids isn't happy, the Wings are probably going to be even stronger... scary stuff.

So here's a lesson from tonight's game... KILL PENALTIES!! They can't score on us 5-on-5, it's clear, once we start killing penalties we can take it to 'em. We need to take game 2, I don't want to have to watch comeback kids all series. Disappointed by the loss, but the Yotes had a solid game. Refs were great at the beginning, then they started confusing me... the hold against Phoenix giving us our last PP was a weird one.

I got my own playlist of about 100 songs. Play it on shuffle the day of every game, making sure that "Hey Hey Hockeytown" is the last song before the game starts. No playlist is complete without it

This. There has never been a conspiracy against the Wings or for another team, regardless of how much one would want to believe it. If anything, it's a psychological thing - we as fans see brutal calls and missed calls that appear as though we've been destined to lose by the refs; the refs may like the story and start looking (subconciously) for the favourite's penalties more than the underdog. Good teams find a way to win. No Fear, No Excuses, No Mercy.

Wings will have to come out flying if they want to win this series. The Yotes have won about 85% of their games when scoring first and 95% when leading after 1, so if our boys don't get out there right off the start, we're done. This kind of stat would be even more amplified with the young guys on Phoenix getting confidence early they'll settle in all that much better. Also thinking that if the Wings can steal one of the first 2 they've got the series easily, but we'll see.

I think the rule is that they have to be less than 26 at the beginning of the season. Niemi was 26 as of August 09, so that's why he isn't considered a rookie.

Including that 4-0 deficit comeback? And the last meeting where we showed 'em how to play clutch. Of course... Detroit IS beatable, we've seen it 38 times this year. Just don't tell Lidstrom and co. that.

Charging, I don't think the stick went up... is it a 5 min major as the second choice? It wasn't as bad as some past hits, but it wasn't clean in the least.

Chicago is slumping since the Olympic Break. If they make it past round 1, they're one of the strongest, but if they get stopped early they won't get injuries back. Washington vs. Vancouver is my theoretical Cup final, with Washington winning out. Problem with Vancouver right now is that they haven't been strong since the Olympic break either. There's weak points to each team in the West right now, but Detroit has looked best in the past month so who knows. It's a tough call.

Well, if the Hawks win it today in regulation we still clinch the playoffs. Osgood was okay, not spectacular but was able to get in a rhythm by the end of the game so it's a positive. Let's just see the Wings play solid through the next week and get ready for the first round.

Just because you've been a fan for 20 years doesn't mean you're a "true fan". But, who are we to determine "true fanship" when the reality (imo) is that it's the heart behind cheering for your team that makes you a fan. I hated Hasek his entire time here; hated the guy his entire career for irrational reasons, but I still supported him as a Wing until he retired. I want the Detroit Red Wings to succeed regardless of who is playing in goal, if Howard falters I'm happy having Osgood take over, especially if he gives us a chance to win.
