It's good to hear about the leadership in the locker room they always talk about in action. Sometimes the captains voice is tuned out and not as effective, so I'm thinking Draper was just pissed off that this wasn't a team that cared and had the words to say so.

Hate to break it to ya, but contracts can't just be changed magically... as players near the end of their contracts (at least when they're 35+) they tend to appear to be worth less than their signed amount. I'll agree that lids would be better for a chepaer price, but I'm content with what defence he's played. In the NHL, the goals you don't allow are just as important as the ones you score. There's no fantasy league that i know of that takes into account the "prevented a good play" stat. As for Holmstrom... his line hasn't been producing all that well, the powerplay has been close to dead, I'd say that's more than just Homers issue.

It's not just holmstrom, it's the other guy as well. Datsyuk is stuck on a line with two big bodies and it's not working. Datsyuk needs a shooter to make something happen, but neither of his wingers are giving that to him. Z and Cleary once worked well together, is it a bad idea to put cleary and datsyuk together? Maybe... 21-40-44 11-13-96 33-43-17 24-8-18 (who's the centre?) Sorry for any mistakes with positions.

I'd take it. 2nd Line probably won't score, but the defensive perspective (of that line) sounds decent...

I feel like a traitor saying this, but I've enjoyed the season. As a Wings fan I've never known anything but strong teams, finally seeing a team that has to earn their spot just makes this season a new experience. I've also never seen my team miss the playoffs... but I'm not going to be happy when that happens.

That is INTENSE... sounds like a complete overhaul. I'm not even sure if I understand the whole draft system. How does "snake draft" work? I like the way the divisions are, but I'm thinking 36 teams would be crazy. My idea, would be to shape the league similar to the MLB with 6 divisions, 2 conferences - bring back the Campbell and Wales - and include an "East, Central, West" for each conference. Not sure how to divide it, but I haven't put full thought into it like yours.

Have the Habs really never played in Detroit? Hard to believe an original six team wouldn't have played a road game against the Wings.

Am I reading that right? Howard over Osgood? Wings just need to find the back of the net more consistently, maybe scoring 2 or 3 goals would win us a few games.

I have more issues with officiating than simply Wings issues... I watch other teams too. Agreed. The only use for "intent to blow" is if the goalie had it covered and then someone knocks the puck in from there, which to me means that he never truly had it covered in the first place... or at least didn't have control of it. It could work...

I have to reiterate, back from where? They're on a good roll right now, but there will be another bad stretch this year (perhaps several) so it's not like they've "left" everytime they lose a game...

Good recall, I remember a 1-0 loss to Dallas in which Howard played solid and I was hoping he'd be up last year. Unfortunately he got held back another year, and we're looking at a guy who lost some of that touch, he's getting back to NHL-caliber, but still has several games before we know how good he'll be.

"the penguins aren't good" is more of a "i wish we were still up there" than a true judgement... Penguins will cool off, no biggie. I consistently get frustrated with the amount of mileage Western teams have to travel through the season vs. the Eastern Conference, but that's how the game is played.

This is true... Haven't they had at least one player's story each week of the season? At one point it was goaltenders in general, but it's been different every week. Just too much Crosby and the Penguins (but they ARE winning).
