Maybe it's cause I didn't truly get into hockey until 2001-2002, but does it really follow a player THAT much? The guy is good, but he's not God, and he knows it. Watching him from time to time shows me that he puts the effort in there, has the passion and the composure (mostly) to be who he is. Thing is, Crosby did what any good hockey player should do, he put effort into blocking a shot. If it were just below the blueline like most of them, no big deal, but it was at a crucial time in the game and it bailed his goalie out. Worthy of highlights, not worthy of a major story. Also watched the interview after, and Crosby might have finally matured... maybe the cup was a good thing after all.

Boston hasn't scored in their last two games, it's hard on your confidence when you watch the puck slide across the crease but never cross the line. I'm betting it's going to be a coach thing right now, line changes day off, I dunno.

This ferris wheel sounds like fun... let's do it! While I've never thought Oz was "bad" I do believe he needs more time before I'll let it stand as an "outstanding" starter. I feel as though there was definitely something that happened during that stretch of being pulled and losing a start to Howard. Babcock has really impressed me this year. I hope Osgood remembers that feeling for the entire season, being pulled after 4 shots is not fun.

tongiht, not sure who said it... "I dub thee sir Niklas Kronwall"

I don't like the hit. Doan's head did not look like it was low, so it was a high head shot by Wizniewski. Intentional or not, I think it should be an auto-suspension. They want to crack down on hits to the head, this is what they need to do. Could've been worse though. A pure clean hit, in my eyes - leaning in with the shoulder, should makes contact with opponent, and knocks them off the puck. Both skates should be on the ice, and the opposing player shouldn't be in a vulnerable position (does not mean he sees it coming). What I saw there, was a missed hit, with the arm flailing out (guess you could say "finishing" the check) it just wasn't satisfactory in my eyes.

That was my only issue with the game - too defensive in the 3rd. It worked, but I don't like watching the clock more than watching my team with the puck. Strong game by Ozzie, even better by the defence. Leino's got some work to do if he wants his spot back.

Howard stumbled on his way across the crease, therefore the 3rd goal was genuinely Howard's fault. That being said, there's no way the Oilers PP should be able to pass THAT freely. What is going on tonight? :S

I believe its a grammatical error. probably meant "if i look back on the first 10 games, things have gone real well. 7 Mins, 6 mins etc. i played bad"

I hear Balsillie has already made an offer

feels like we haven't been able to score the needed goals at all the whole year.

Just got home, not bad of a score... Also... Red Wings Live stream wasn't working there, is there an alternative if it bails again?

1st goal, i felt like the stick hit just above the crossbar, but wasn't complaining. 2nd goal I felt like the whistle SHOULD have been called, other than that it was legit. Can't do much about it, Phoenix grinded it out with one of the best. Props for them.

*Loss to the Flames was 04; Lockout was 05 Cujo was my favourite goalie, especially at the time and I've never been a big fan of Hasek either, but he won games. Joseph deserved a better shot for sure, just too much controversy out there. After he left the Wings, he was never anywhere near as good.

Alright, so I wasn't thinking someone who was on a discussion forum for 3 hours was using a low-speed connection. But take into account this - 12.2 Million people (2006) live in Ontario. That is 5 million more than 2nd highest population in Quebec. With 2.5 Million living in Toronto, and more in the surrounding area, that's nearly half of Ontario's fanbase is likely to be TML fans. That's only counting a small region nonetheless, so equal distribution isn't worth it to CBC. I would much rather see good teams play, but I have to wait until 10pm to do that. Also mark down that the guys with the most money (generalizing here, I know) are the guys living in Toronto who can afford these 300$ tickets they're selling. The ones with money control the country. I do hate the Leafs, but I have a roommate who's a big fan, without CBC I'm not so sure we'd have anything to argue about

Actually, I don't understand who's "forcing" you to watch a Leafs game. There's internet streams of just about every game out there. Some you pay for, some you don't. If YOU don't watch it, YOU don't have to see it. CBC plays what it'll get the best ratings for - aka they get money off of the Leafs. Not to mention that you cannot tell me there's a better team than the Leafs as far as ratings go. If you're in BC/Alberta/Sask/Manitoba then you're games are up to 3 hours later than the Leaf game. Consider that CBC is based out of Toronto, it's only logical that they talk about Toronto, right? Their main audience is Toronto, so why not talk about Toronto's team? Maybe you didn't notice, but I live in "Leaf nation" which is truly a large chunk of Southern Ontario. It's not until you get closer to Windsor and the border where Leaf nation starts to die out. Further North you go in Ontario, Leaf fans begin to take over again. Go east toward Ottawa and you get a few Ottawa fans, which if you noticed on the schedule - CBC plays those games in the Ottawa region. Further East you get to Montreal, and over there they have stations that play Montreal games, and surprise surprise, cover the Canadiens to a tee. Again, if you don't want to watch the Leafs, don't. There's plenty of internet to go around.

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/story/2009...c-schedule.html Can't handle the Toronto media? Sacrifice your NTC and get out of Leaf nation.

Love Ericsson, but I think he may have been benched near the end. Ken and Mickey were commenting he hadn't played much late in the game.

I was seaarching for this topic Congrats to Nick! Felt so good to see it. Didn't watch it live, but seeing it again was awesome!

Minus a small handful of shutouts and good defensive games.

What would the sound of a thread implosion be exactly? If the Wings retired all the guys that "deserve it" (the core of the 3-time cup winning squad) then we'd have no numbers to play with anymore ; Lidstrom is the only one that deserves it, the rest deserve honouring as a team, kind of like the Leafs do with that '67 team (except we only need do it once, not 50 times)

Atdhe.net has it listed. Let's go Wings!

I like the idea, and have thought about it before. But last 5 mins is probably too long, keep it set as "last minute" and you can go for the penalty shot. I don't think it should be changed to majors, because it's unfair to the other team if it's been tied up. They're now forced into OT w/ the PK or they lose because of that same penalty.

Brendan Morrision's and Leopold are pretty good players too no?
-
I don't recall a whole lot of offensive support (A loss 1-0 to Dallas, 4-1 to Vancouver, 3-1 last night) And didn't he have a W on his record too? That being said, his sv % is not impressive this preseason.
-
Does anyone think that the Olympics may have something to do with the intensity of the preseason? Or is that idea too far out there? Phaneuf would be playing for a spot on Canada if I'm not mistaken... (and I could be, I haven't kept up with the olympic camp)
