    Great nicknames from the NHL

I'm not sure it was a top... 41 of alltime. But those names were definitely missed.

    Does 'C' Stand for Crosby?

http://www.ctvolympics.ca/hockey/news/news...html?cid=rsstsn For the Canadians, article talks about the possible captains. Hockey Canada won't be naming Crosby as captain, but rather alluded to possibly Niedermeyer. I think it's far too much for Crosby to take lead on Team Canada, he may have led the World Junior team to gold, but this type of international hockey is far different. Boys vs. Men type scenario. I'm glad we have so many experienced players on our team, a ton of great leaders and knowing the right choices for captaincy will be made. Thoughts?

    Does 'C' Stand for Crosby?

My sister's bf and I were saying this today too. Going to really miss the guy.

    Osgood.

Although if you think about it, he WAS out of position on that second goal

*If* Jimmy Howard Doesn't Work Out

Keep in mind Larsson also made the AHL all-star game (i think Howard did too?)

    rebuilding year?

As far as the Wings go... this is a rebuilding year. We lost a couple core players, so we're working to develop the future of the dynasty. This isn't a "bottom out" rebuild, its a champions rebuild, expecting a division crown still actually... hmm

Mike Grier's agent says he's 'interested' in Red Wings

    Personally, I blame Datsyuk.

    1997 Wings/Flyers Flashback

I don't think I've ever seen a crowd as loud as the Joe was that series. What happened to the good hockey? *sigh* Most excited I've heard Bob Cole and Harry Neale too, wish I had been into hockey back then.

NHL Network's Top Shootout Goals of 08-09 Season

Curious... should Ribeiro's goal count? It seemed he had lost control of the puck, so I thought that killed the play? (and he touched again after he lost control putting it in)

    Wings Defensive Future?

I was too young back then

    Wings Defensive Future?

I believe in Ericsson... sure he's made mistakes, but I feel like he's a 2nd rate Lidstrom. Which is still saying alot, right?

    Blackhawks to be power house?

It'll be a great battle, but I'm still doubtful.

    Nik Antropov

I'd Pick Nik over Sammy, but would expect the $$$ to be tough. Nik's gotten big and could play a net presence that we ever so enjoy.

Three players gone... what's next for Wings?

Helm, Leino and Howard. Makes me feel comfortable.

    Wings won't bring Conklin back

I guess it's time we went back to the usual goaltending tandem where the starter picks up 55-60 games. We've been super lucky to have two years where we could rotate our goalies. Great to see Howard get a real shot at this though.

Wings Trade thier first round pick to Tampa

Next Mule? Sounds like a great Holmstrom replacement when the time comes!

Can we land Sundin for a "discount"?

Unlike most people here it would seem, I like Sundin. He was one of the few Leafs I had (and still have) alot of respect for. He's not worth 10 mill by any stretch, and I think Vancouver is stupid for thinking he was. He's only ever been worth 4-5 Million in his prime (imo) but he puts out as much effort as Zetterberg, and I admire it. He's a strong force down low, with great wrap around skill, perhaps an improvement over Hossa. Do I want him on the team? If he was willing to take a price between 1-2 million, definitely! Up to 3 million and he's worth it, even in his older age. He just needs a team he fits on, needs a role, something the Wings are great at. But I wanna see the young guys too, so just one new free agent this year, no more Hossa. (And we already know Cheli is gone) But I don't think he would make a huge impact to this team, even Hossa didn't feel like anything special, despite 40 goals.

    Two Winter Classics in 2010?

I don't see how it would work... How is Conklin going to be in two places at once?

Detroit to offer Hossa long term deal

I'll take Hossa IF (and only IF) we don't lose anybody important to our team. In the Red Wings organization, I have no doubt he will become a better player in those pressure situations, but if we have to sacrifice any of our younger players, any of our role playing forwards in order to make cap space for the guy, I'm against it.

How sad are you at the moment?

The team that won deserved to win tonight. I feel crappy, about the same as the loss to the Ducks in 07. I'll be fine tomorrow and will move on.
  23. SDavis35

    Osgood

It was a softie, but he did hold the fort to 2 GA (and a 2.00 GAA) so I can't complain. Scoring wasn't there when we needed it tonight.

    Interesting Radio Bit

this. honestly don't believe that Crosby would stay a Wing if he didn't have the composure alot of our younger guys have.

Last Time a Team Won Game 7 on the Road.....

Like it's already been said : Stats don't matter, the end result does. Pittsburgh is up against the Wings, not the Caps, etc. etc. The biggest thing that Pittsburgh would need to do in order to win Game 7 is to overcome the bounces. If Detroit can take advantage of home-ice bounces, as both teams have done this series, then Detroit wins. If the pens can overcome the incredibly high pressure of winning the CUP on the road, then they have a decent shot at this. The pens also will need goals and a spectacular defensive game from the lower lines. Detroit needs Hossa to score if they're going to win. If Hossa doesn't show up in game 7, then there's no reason for the Wings to win. The end result will determine the better team, if there's any source of "experience" for the Wings, it will be the second round against the ducks. That series had the feel of a Cup final, and was a great game to watch. Good luck to the Pens, BUT Let's go Red Wings. Expect the greatest game of the playoffs Friday night.
