Tonight, we see the true character of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Expect a great game. Win or lose the Penguins HAVE to come out hard, HAVE to play their hearts out for 60+ mins. If they don't bounce back, they haven't come far enough from last year to say "we learned from this" The Wings on the other hand HAVE to focus, HAVE to stand strong and whether the storms. If they don't play 60 mins, we'll be heading back to the Joe with a few extra visitors. I'm expecting the greatest playoff game of the past two years, so LET'S GO RED WINGS!!

I've felt it throughout the entire playoffs, Bylsma is classier than any of the losing coaches in these playoffs. I kept trying to find some type of "whining" from him, but he's been good. Hasn't said too much with a win (BYLSMA, the other Pens have said too much for sure) and doesn't whine in losing. Therrien didn't sound so whiny until he actually was faced with adversity from the Wings. Bylsma is now faced with an elimination situation and he's still level-headed. I like him, no complaints. Just wish he had a team that I could like just as much.

Penguins top heavy in talent while Wings more evenly distributed

Thus why Lidstrom (imo) is our #1 player. This just made me crack up. Imagining Crosby on the West coast is a joke, Malkin's big enough he might survive. I believe that the Penguins style would not be as successful in the Western Conference. -
This has been where my problem is this year. I won't point to any specific team, or specific player, because the bad calls happen to everyone. My problem is that the bad calls seem to decide the game and "99% of the time" doesn't seem to be the case anymore. I'm not sure whether it's cause there's inexperienced referees or if the NHL's "parity" movement has magnified their mistakes. Either way I stick to my motto of "Good teams find a way to win" Now, if the media would shut up about bad calls...

If It's up to Pavs, there's no way he won't play, right? Unless he isn't up to a good speed, but he said he's confident so no way.

Ahh yes, this was played early in the season. There's this thing about pictures though Crosby - they last forever

Not so sure the "wings got hosed by the schedule" really has any merit. Pens had to deal with 7 game series in round 2 and only had one more day of rest prior to this series. Yea we're injured and all, but we ARE the best team in the league. Once Dats comes back, assuming he's truly healthy, look out. If there's anything to blame, its the injury bug flying around our boys. As for the rest of the post, I completely agree.

Wow... That will be thrown in the "Don't Care" pile.

That's how I felt when it was called. "Oh there's probably a tiny trickle of red they're calling it for, I don't see nothin... and Toews is back already *sigh*" But it looked bigger later in the period

Pens PP isn't anywhere NEAR as solid as the Hawks. I think that the remainder of this series will determine the effectiveness of our PK (despite the 11 mins of PK, only 1 of those 3 goals were on the PP i think) The Penguins PP numbers aren't that impressive either (18.9%) But if the Wings don't turn it on, they don't deserve to win, plain and simple.

Bob Cole is my favourite announcer; Kelly Hrudey is annoying and the intermissions on CBC suck. I would love to have the chance to watch Bob Cole' play-by-play and then Bob Mackenzie and co. do the analysis. As long as I don't have to hear McQuire. The CBC guys last night though were annoying. I'd be okay with Chris Cuthbert and/or Gord Miller. But it would be a dream come true to hear Ken and Mickey

WCF GAME 3 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Blackhawks 4 (OT)

If he did that then we would KNOW the league was scripted -
I was under the impression we still had to play in the other team's barn...

Bolded are the most important to being considered an elite goaltender in my books. The italicized are the additional requirements to be even better. Some tenders would have it, others can be elite without being inidividually different. I feel Ozzie has the Bold credentials, and I feel his style is his own. Brodeur pretty much has everything

I feel Cleary deserves it... he's been on top of +/- all postseason, been getting hot on the goal front lately, and has some decent point numbers. He's probably the hardest worker on the Wings (which is tough to say with the guys we have). And has been fairly consistent. For the Wings: 1 Cleary 2 Osgood 3 Franzen Really tough to choose

See, the Octopus is kind enough not to kill. Just remember not to mess with it again Burish, k?

I still have my Diddy Kong; He's a true Wings fan, maybe I should give him that sticker I found today and replace the star on his shirt

How many times did Gretzky change HIS number over his career? I seem to recall hearing he wanted to be #9, but had to be #99 instead. It's a respectful move to give up your selfish ambitions to allow a teammate to keep his.

I kinda noticed during the season, when Ozzie was winning games, he was keeping us in those games IF they got close. If we had a lead by a goal or two, he collapsed. Now with the pressure really on, he shows up and nobody here should be upset with a 2.06 GAA and .922 sv%

Which of These Players Will be the Next to Score a Goal?
SDavis35 replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
I say Holmstrom, he's going to tip a Datsyukian shot too. -
So you're saying Ward would only allow 2 or fewer goals a game? And he would shut out the ducks in that 2-1 loss? Sorry, Ward's had some game-stealers but with the Wings defence Ward wouldn't need to make those saves. Ward and Osgood also have a similar mindset - nothing rattles them. If Ward was a Wings goalie, we'd be criticizing him for not being good enough just the same as Ozzie. The difference? Ozzie's old, Ward's still young. I'd rather have Ozzie in net, he's more of a favourite to me, and hasn't disappointed me in the past two runs.

Turco... playing FOR detroit? Goodbye playoffs! He can't win at the Joe

With today's defeat, his playoff record is 50-50 -- That's a cool one to me
