Gotta admit, the Wings got a benefit of the majority of the calls, but they also worked their butts off last night. Sharks didn't look good in the third period @ Dallas, and they didn't look top-notch last night. Either they've grown tired, or they're just not able to push past their past. But the referees did what they were supposed to do, the Wings got benefits and converted on the bad calls, the Sharks didn't. But, that's what it feels like to lose a game when the calls aren't going your way. Remember last year's netting situation? I blame the refs for missing the call, but more importantly, the Wings needed to play until the whistle blew. Every time reffing errors come up, I always think about my former gym teacher's favourite line: Good teams find a way to win

Didn't watch Brodeur tonight, but a shutout tells me he's back and as strong as when he left. The Devils are a very dangerous team, and may even have what it takes to win the cup. Hot goaltender(s) + lots of playoff experience + consistent scoring = great recipe. Reminds me of last year's Wings in a way. We know Brodeur can do it, and to have a fresh Brodeur, instead of his usual 70+ games a season, who knows what will happen. I've been thinking they'd be a threat once Marty was back, had no reason to believe they could make it to the playoffs without him (they barely scored before). And so, my pick will be the Devils from the east. And a toss-up between the Wings and Sharks from the West, based on our performance against SJ, even without "homerism"

Woot! Conker made alot of saves out there. But all those shots from far away = Wings win Good game though, anyone else notice the announcers start cheering for the Wings? It actually confused me there

I can completely understand your sentiments. My roommate aint too happy either, I was surprised the call was overturned. It looked in to me, but when they showed the back view again, I wasn't sure... thought "inconclusive" meant the call stood. Also think the bounces have really favoured Detroit tonight. Of course, I'm still hoping the Wings hold for the win! ;

Yea, my roommate's cheering for the Sharks and is ticked. I'm just trying to remember there's still 40 mins. And wishing Ken and Mickey were on the feed

I've got a thing against Steve Ott... I had a friend who had a boyfriend almost stolen by a girl with the last name of Ott (even had a picture of her on HNIC) so I've hated him since then. Does that still count as irrational?

I got a free trial from my NHL 2k9 game, and I would give it about 6/10. It was great to have the games available, but alot of the games i wanted to watch ended up being blackouts. The majority of Wings games were still there, but any game that would be on "local" TV was usually blacked out, even if it was on RDS (Habs) or some sportsnet games. My trial's over now, and I've joined the atdhe.net bandwagon.

Yes, the best active coach in the league will be fired? If this were serious, or even remotely possible, everything we love about the Wings will have died.

This is what I was thinking would happen. Is this "Liv" Larsson? Where'd the nickname come from?

Seeing as Chicago has a strong lead over the rest of the pack, we won't be seeing them until Round 2. If I had to choose right now, I think I'd like the oilers. Rolly hasn't been as hot as he was back in 06, and their defence hasn't looked so hot several times this year. An inconsistent team like that would be nice. Kings would be a decent opponent too, but with Quick in net and young, he's got a good chance of catching HGS (hot goalie syndrome) Since we'll more likely finish 2nd, I pick Vancouver, they just don't scare me, even with Luongo.

he played okay, he seems to play better with the other guys out there. Meech just doesn't seem to be a good fit for him. but that's my opinion.
-
I don't think he's all that bad... him and chelios don't work well together, but its all we've got. The rest of the pairs are fine. To me, he seems to be playing like a final pairing defencemen, which is where he's at. If he were as awesome as say lilja or lidstrom, we'd be losing him to the cap.

Was that an empty netter? no? sweet!

Lucky? Cleary knew what he was doing

Good, been waiting to see Howie all year! Finally the space to put him in. Ozzie just needs to work on the little things to his game, not sure if 10 days is quite the amount needed, but we'll see how he works with it.
-
Didn't Theodore deal with something similar a few years ago? Or maybe it was just his brother...
-
What about the cheer for Hossa when it was announced he got the misconduct? JLA was loud at that point
-
FINALLY! somebody fighting:D not as good as the old days though.

imo, Lemieux has been hurting them. It could be tied into being tired or something, but since Lemieux showed up, the Sharks have not been the team they used to be. I always felt Claude would slow them down, and looks like it may be coming true.
-
rumour has it that as hossa left the ice that night, his jersey magically turned white and a winged wheel replaced the penguin.
-
I've noticed that Ozzie looks alot smaller in net than he did last year. He's overthinking everything, and needs to get back to just having fun the way he did last year.
-
Clutterbuck, yes dirty hit. Yes it would hurt if he stood up, but I think it may have been worse because he bent over (Knee in the back) Not sure the physics, so you could be right. Thanks for the video too, looks clean, and legal on Lebda's part.

not to mention that with a 2-1 lead over colorado tonight, they sat back 1-2-2. I've never seen such a passive defence of a lead! (its now 2-2)
-
6-1-0 in February, against 7 consecutive "fight for our lives" playoff teams. No issues from my perspective. We looked tired tonight, we played tired, but we've had jump every other game this month.

So close... Mason flashes his Canadian spirit again. Off to Colorado now
