If you want to get blown out, Saturday is the most prime team to do so. I'm not sure if it'll take a blowout, but maybe a looong slump like a certain month last season will do it. We're already 4 games into one! That was my favourite part of the season looking back, cause we went from "talent driven" wins to "hard work" wins. Everything really solidified after that.

Crosby's comments at the ASG in reference to the suspensions sounded like he was still bitter that the Wings beat him. No surprises here that fans are still feeling it. But, blame ohalloran for the team winning in pittsburgh

In general, O'Halloran is a very solid ref. He's not bad, and the NHL knows that (hence why he was ref-ing the Cup final) It's because of that, that I don't like him. I've watched his other games that he's ref'd, and he doesn't botch his calls the way he does in Detroit. This is why I don't like him, and throw away any game that he's refd all year. I'm not sure the stats, but in the last year at least, we only won Game 2 of the Cup final when he ref'd. It's not always his fault. Last night however, he stopped the Wings momentum TWICE. One was legit, and the other was the prime reason for this topic I'm sure. Even still, as Babs said: we put ourselves in the situation, it's up to us to get ourselves out of it. O'Halloran should just not be allowed to ref any Detroit games. Not sure how this would affect scheduling, but there should be an effort to keep these bad calls from happening.

yea, Ovie had time to get his shoulder down and cushion the play. Smart move, but not every player gets that much time.

Watched it last night, but could not stay interested. Ovechkin made it entertaining, and Doan's daughter giving hugs after every goal... but other than that there really was nothing entertaining. The AHL one today though, that was fun to watch, just like the old ASGs, get the good players, and good events. Some nice plays on the 3-man breakaway, and it was entertaining to watch Larsson and Kindl

Umm... resign a scorer vs. resigning our captain and #1 D-man? Lidstrom's future with the Wings will depend on Lidstrom and only Lidstrom. Either he retires at the end of his contract, or he plays with the wings. Hopefully he'll take a paycut like other older players. The way the wings are set up: Priority #1 is defensive responsibility. Scoring can come later, and we already have solid 2-way players in dats and Z, plus a solid group coming up. No contest imo.

my thoughts exactly. Why do they have to call it a suspension and ruin solid players' records? On the note of participating in the sponsored events (aka media hype): its stupid. Leave it to your "Franchise" players; crosby, stamkos, toews. They'll at least be in the game!

What i've seen on the replay: Marleau's back foot was ON the line. Pretty sure that's legal, so blame the Defence for not being aware of him, or give credit to Marleau for his great speed! It felt like those few minutes in the third, we fell asleep, we slowed down big time. Maybe we were tired, but we found the extra push in the end, this is a good sign for the wings to have resiliency.

That was an AWESOME GAME! Sucks we lost, but still, amazing to watch. I have no complaints about the officials, they let the stupid calls go, give or take a couple, but pretty even on both sides. February 25th, it's payback time!

I remember last year when Conks had to step it up for Pittsburgh in place of Fleury... feels like he hits his stride when the pressure's on. Most of his career is still only regular season as he's never been a starter in the palyoffs. It would be interesting and I wouldn't mind playing the same cards as last year and switching up if Oz can't get it together in playoffs. Two solid goalies is all a team like this needs

Yep, our D has been big in the past few games. But admit it, if Conklin didn't dive out on Vanek, it coulda been 2-0 EASY. That one sequence in the first really jumpstarted the team imho. (The D wasn't even half bad on that play either, bailed him out afterwards) On to the Stars! cringing at how the week looks though 4 games in 6 nights.

I keep thinking the sabres need a penalty called against them... then realize they're playing a really clean game!

If the Wings D is as good as it was against the Stars, we could have a new contest of "Play goal for the Wings" and have a fan play in net

I think it may have been more on how "hooking" can be called as soon as a stick is parallel. I personally think it's a stupid way to call it. Maybe if it were more of a "1-2-3" call rather than tapping the gloves and insta-penalty. O well, woulda been called on everyone. Expect a few makeup calls in the 3rd.

Give both goalies an equal number of games played (Conklin 20, Osgood 19 so far i think?) So with Ozzie starting tomorrow, we'll be even. From there you just gotta rotate, if one of them gets a shutout, let them ride the streak until they're done. Only exception is on back-to-back games, where you auto-rotate. Somehow gotta work it so they're not tightening up like Tokarski @ the WJC. We've got two capable goalies, it could work in our favour again.
