12 games that start at 9:00pm or later. It's not as brutal as I feared. I had feeling the schedule would run at least through all of April. We could have a very late Stanley Cup Finals!

I agree. No one will wear it for a while, but it's not like it will be off-limits. Number retirement would be ridiculous. We love Homer, but he's just not that good at the things that get your number in the rafters.

Homer was my favorite, but this retirement is the right time. He's had a great career. Thanks Homer! I'm a HUGE homer fun, but HELL NO to jersey retirement. He just simply wasn't that good. Just because a player is beloved, doesn't mean we retire his number. Save that for the Yzerman's, Lidstrom's, and Howe's. The players that were legendary. Hero's will be remembered, but legends get number retirement (or they never die, but...)

I haven't found this online, but a friend at work told me that the regular season will all be within conferences and not one game will be against a team in a different conference. If so, this means we've got a lot of late games ahead of us... sigh...

Very interesting question. The NHL is headquartered in New York. The non-binding mediators are from the US Government. I have no idea which, if any, court could render a decision that effects the entire NHL.
