I'm of the opinion that what Bertuzzi did was wrong. It most certainly wasn't his intention to fracture Moore's spine, but you must be responsible for your actions. With the way he blind-side punched more and then drove him to the ice he was taking a BIG risk, and it unfortunately proved to be a bad risk. I agree with the others, the McCarty attack on Lemeuix was different, McCarty did NOT blind-side Claudia, he came from the front. Nor did he use his weight to drive Claudia'shead into the ground. McCarty just plain beat the s*** out of Claudia with his fist.

Chelios would make a great addition to a team with just a few minor issues: - He sucks - He's old - He's got nothing left (granted he's better at hockey now than I'll ever be or could dream to be, but that's why I went to college)

We don't need this thug-goon. He sucks. -
I like the Hockeytown slogan. I'm not offended when the fan of another town thinks that they deserve the title instead of us. There's a lot of great places that have great hockey fans.

Civil litigation cannot lead to criminal penalties. But other than that, LOL.

LOL, you took the words out of my mouth. I understand, we don't want a team of Prongers, I guess I just wish we had a little bit more toughness than we do. I do agree with you 100% that Holland is kick ass in terms of building a team that can win. Too many people don't understand that winning as much as we do is awesome. We may not win the cup EVERY year, but we have a solid chance each year, which is more than most professional sports teams can say each year.

I agree with most of what you say. It still doesn't change the fact we're a team of whimps. When I first got into hockey back in 1995 the Red Wings were a much tougher team that was still capable of winning. I guess I just wish we had at least one enforcer out there that could take care of issues on-ice. I think our toughest guy is probably Kronwall because of his checking\destroying ability. Remember when we had guys like Brendan Shannahan that had no reservations about scoring a hat-trick and then kicking your ass when you got cheap in the last 5 minutes of a hopeless game? Yes, hockey isn't supposed to be like the UFC, but it's not supposed to be like curling or ballet either. Winning comes first, but some toughness would be appreciated too.

Not saying that they aren't a great team, but they're soft. If soft = SCF apperances then that's fine with me, but regardless, they're still soft. We do have some tough guys... like... er...... Maltby and his visor?
-
However, it's true though. The Red Wings are soft and delicate, and the rip on ticket pricing was awesome!

I love the Red Wings selection he picked! That's too damn funny. I don't like the Penguins selection and quote though, but since he's a Pens fan I guess he gets to work that in there! Thanks for sharing!

Just a reminder to those still posting in this thread.... The above is the original topic.... (just pointing fun that a 4 word post has developed into a 19 page thread)

Each new season Maltby straps on the skates should be considered a comeback. -
Yup, "WATCH: Sid Gives Cup a Scrubdown" is a REAL NHL.com headline unfortunately.
-
Yup, people hate Crosby typically for two reasons: 1) The non-stop NHL coverage as he gets jammed down our throats and 2) Earlier in his career (but not so much now) he dove, a lot. Crosby is a great hockey player with a lot of potential and a Stanley Cup ring. He's no Gretzky and no Yzerman. Not to say that he doesn't have potential, but you can't write the story of his career when the kid can't even grow a beard or mustache yet.

I have improved\added\corrected spelling:
-
Sadly, I only modified a few things in there, most of it is real NHL.com coverage of the larger-than-life Sid "The Kid" Crosby.
-
Look at all the NHL.com coverage on him, I can't believe some of those headlines!
-
It pains me, but yes, Crosby hasn't done any off-ice jackassery.
-
Duuuuude, you almost made me shoot Gatorade out my nose! LMFAO!
-
I agree, it's fricken awesome. I know we hate the pens and everything, but to be a part of a celebration of a team you love, that would be priceless. I was at Verlander no-hitter and I'll never forget it.
