Another game packaged up and handed out to the oposing team on a platter by the refs. They better not do this stuff in the playoffs or it will be more than octopi thrown on the ice. The crowd said it best, "BUUUUUULSHIIIIIT"

My family ROFLed at the commercial with all the babies and the dude goes up and starts yelling about how the other babies are ugly and his is the best in the world. I think it's a Versus commercial.

LOL, the video in the article is great, I'm surprised they didn't pick on Pavel.

Ya know, the Thrashers might just be on to something
Holmstrom96 replied to Jersey Wing's topic in General
I wish my wife liked hockey. She'll watch with me, but she reads a book unless it's a close game with minutes left. She doesn't understand the rules either. I had my mom and dad over to watch the game on Monday night and all my mom and wife did was TALK OVER the game the entire time. My dad said, "we need a whistle we can blow to tell them to shut up" and I kicked them out of the living room once. -

Anyone who says they don't want it or that the Thrashers are bad and need it are just JEALOUS. -
Great article, thanks for posting. My favorite part: Zetterberg: “So I had to translate, English into English.â€

What does everyone think of Ballard's hit on Malkin?
Holmstrom96 replied to CenterIce's topic in General
As much as I don't like Crosby, it's not like he started cheap shotting Ballard, he dropped the gloves and it was an actual fight (although Crosby has a visor). I like the hit and I like that Crosby dropped the gloves. You've got to respect star players, and it's OK to put a clean hit on them but expect the team to react. -
I know it seems like an overblown incident, but keep things in perspective: #1 It was during a TV timeout #2 It was well after the play was over #3 It was completly unprovoked #4 It was a stick to the head #5 It was their goalie #6 The goalie was on his knees stretching #7 It was comitted by a guy that has a reputation for jack-assery It one thing to stir the pot, but to go around hitting goalies in the head with your stick that are stretching during TV timeouts? Are we really going to say that's acceptable? Is the NHL going to turn into a league where there is no respect and you have to watch your back all the time, even during timeouts?

What a bag of ******. Hat's off to Thomas for defending himself. F*** Sean Avery. Best quote ever, Tim Thomas: "You look up and see who it is, and you're like, 'You've got to be kidding me.' So it was just reflex."

I can't grow a beard, even at age 25, but I like the slogan!

LMAO YHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

No, he did the right thing. If he wanted to get a goalie he'd have to dismantle the team. Waiting allows him to see if he can get Franzen, Hossa, and others onboard. Even if we don't win Stanley every year, we've still got a dynamite team that consistly wins, especially at home.

I'm dissapointed in Chelios for bad penalties. The guy spent more time in the box than he did on the ice. Osgood disapointed too. I don't expect Osgood to be a miracle goalie... He made some great saves and bailed out the defence a couple times, but then he let some head-scratchers by.

If we average three goals a game I don't think that'd be enough to keep winning with ozzie in net.

I remember it all to well. I was watching and then all of a sudden IGOR LARIONOV of all people sticks up for himself and starts throwing punches. Then when McCarty popped Claudia I didn't think it could get better, then all the Roy\Shannahan Roy\Vernon stuff happened and I practically wizzed all over myself. Then top it off with a come from behind victory in overtime where McCarty scores the winning goal and the spins like a freaking dreidel in his celebration.

Refs are brutal to the Red Wings. Remember the game Holmstrom came back and they called back a goal because he was "in the crease" but he didn't touch the goalie? This "in the crease" rule only applies to the Red Wings apparently. I also like that Cleary constantly gets called for goalie interference, but crashing Osgood 3 times in one game is perfectly acceptable. The inconsistent reffing is very troubling. If the wings lose a series\game because of it expect home crowds to use the ice as a trash receptacle.

Unless you're Sidney Crosby and participate in the Bettman Prolapse clause. Then you don't get penalized.

My first trip into Madison Square Garden tonight
Holmstrom96 replied to Jersey Wing's topic in General
Thanks for the tips, I'm headed that way in June, staying on 57th street. -
I like Chelios, but he's just another one of those former "core" players that just isn't good enough anymore. McCarty needs to go for good, Maltby is next. Draper can still skate and is a great center for the checking line, so I would say he needs to go yet.

These commercials are great! They have the right idea, don't have him talk.

No.... The non-rich teams get more money through revenue sharing because of the "luxury tax". The great thing about the NHL is that the rules favor the home team. Home team gets last line change and doesn't have to put their stick down first. Combine that with having 20,000 refeerees cheering for you and that creates the situation where only two teams of thirty (Atlanta, Tampa Bay) have losing home records with ~70 games played. So for most teams in the NHL your team generally has a greater than 50% chance of pleasing folks who bought seats, even if you don't make the play-offs or come in last in most divisions.

Yup, I hate Versus. At least I can get NBC in HD, but WOW Cable doesn't have versus in HD. National announcers get too caught up in one thing, like NBC gets caught up in the Crosby-Mario prolapse, and Versus tonight couldn't stop stroking Marty and then we missed 5 minutes of the final period to watch him skate around and cut off the net. I can understand cutting to Marty for a couple minutes, but not as long as what Versus did. FSD is just superior to all other channels when it comes to hockey. Mickey is entertaining, insightful, and for the most part, rather fair. When Mickey sees a BS call, even if it favors the Red Wings, he still calls it BS.
